With Biden anticipating $10,000/student forgiveness on student loans, let's check the math. $10,000 over 10 years works out $1000 per year of about $83/month. That ought to cover about 3/4 tank of gas once a month at current prices, two months from now that may cover 1/2 tank of gas. If you decide you want to buy groceries also, well, tough luck.

How soaring inflation is complicating Biden's decision whether to forgive student loan debt

$10K will be enough for the people who borrowed enough to cover their beer money and frat dues to be debt free. Beyond that, it won't help anybody who is in the deep end of the economic debt pool. For those people, $10K very well may not even change their payment one bit because they are making less than interest only payments thereby going dee[er and deeper in debt every month. At least Biden seems to be wising up to the fact that it will take an act of congress to do much. The higher ed act limits what the dept of ed can do and for whom.
