What is your ambition in life

Happiness is a very subjective subject.
Indeed. If one has liberty and the abilty to live and challenge themselves as they please, everyone in society benefits. It is Adam Smiths invisible hand, but it is applied to more than just capitalsim, it is applied to life. Some want to sit and paint all day, others want to work 70 hours a week, some others want to help the downtrodden. I say be free and choose, you will need money regardless. G-d is very important to me and I have faced a great tribulation. So I'd like to be able to follow his Commands while also meeting my potential. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, it's a tragedy really

Interesting question for me, a retired person. I always had a "five year plan" in my adult life, and I generally met those goals, but now I admit living pretty much day to day. The only things I have to look forward to are vacations and cruises (also vacations). I get zero satisfaction from my descendants - don't tell them I wrote that - and there is nothing going forward that I aspire to, other than getting better at golf and bowling.

No more real ambitions. Kinda sad, isn't it?

I strive for happiness and good health.

A good bowel movement.

Without them the rest of the day can be very uncomfortable.

Remember it’s the simple things in life which shouldn’t be taken for granted.

"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women."
Beat me to it.

When I saw the title of the thread, that was the first thing that came to mind.

Apart from always wanting to kick a duck up the arse, my ambition is to build my own house on a plot of land.

What is your ambition in life?
I successfully fulfilled your ambition by 28 years of age no less, but paid a steep price to accomplish that goal. My ultimate ambition as a middle aged teenager was to have my own deer farm/refuge. If U R looking to anchor your own acreage & build your own structures don't attempt it by working 10/12 hours per day 6/7 days per week as there is a penalty to pay further down the road for that mentality. If U need some tips on how to acquire acreage & build your own structures U can reference the link below so U can do it the RIGHT WAY & still have a quality life while doing it.

Land in the UK is expensive and rare as hens teeth, so it's a case of being in the know and lucky, unless you pay a complete fortune for a tiny plot.

Great minds and all. ;)
Pretty much, but you know me, any occasion that is a perfect call for a meme or a gif, instead of just a few typed sentences, I'm there.

How much is a village lot? What's the average size?

The typical (in town) lot here is .25 acre and goes for around 90K.
Well, there's a government PDF that gives the average price of land with planning in every part of England, it's a few years old now. The cost is per Hectare. There are 2.471054 acres to a hectare and 4,047 square metres to an acre. London is over £100m per Hectare, Cumbria is just over £700,000. Suffice to say, the average in Cumbria is £75 per sqm with planning. But you could have a crap area with a lower amount and posh areas with high amounts. So 0.25 x 4,047 x £75 = £75,881. But what's happening is, they sell at least double that.

There was a plot for a small house, 3 feet to each side of it, one car parking parallel to the house, tiny back garden asking price £45k. I offered £50k and was immediately told they had much higher bids. And I reckon I offered about £100+ per sqm. As for auctions, forget it. You need double the asking price, and then, you'll get outbid. It's at a point where buy a house, there's no return on it unless you live in it for a few decades.

Why do I always doubt people when they cannot spell out the word God?
