Zone1 What is Wrong with Inequality?

That's all I've been saying. This has fallen apart which is why workers have lost out in the economy. Free market wont keep the masses from being exploited. The system is set up against them.

Free market is the best way, "the system" (regulation) is what is limiting competition and opportunity.

Between companies, sure. Not when it comes to labor.

Biden and Obama both ran the military into the ground. Carter did the same thing; I was there and saw it. No money for training, no supplies, no spare parts for vehicles, under Carter we were recycling vehicle batteries with worn out plates that wouldn't hold a charge.
Military spending was at record highs

If your service decided not to spend money on maintenance.
It is on them

Labor benefits from opportunity and competition.
Those are just words cobbled together. Show me on this graph how that is working:

LOL

What do you think your graph proves and how do you equalize growth rates?

Too many variables to make all people equal. The biggest being individuals making personal decisions.
Its a graph over time. People havent been working less or less productive. In fact they are way MORE productive than ever before, yet their share of wealth has dwindled to the point people are saying there is no more middle class. How do you work harder and end up with less? Easy. The owner class has exploited labor for about 50 years now. The only question is what to do about it.

How about you, have you ended up with less?

Im part of the top line. I am not sure what one individual has to do with anything in a labor market of 170,000,000. Any thought on how to help the worker line?

Labor benefits from a strong union
That may have been true in the twenties and thirties when the unions were working for the members, but now unions are just working for themselves. I was a CWA member for thirty five years and saw that constantly.

How do you explain the loss of worker power and share of the wealth?

Each of the 170,000,000 are individuals and have the same opportunities as you. There could be more with less regulation, increasing an individual's potential.

My dad was CWA (Bell Telephone) for 40 years from 50s to the 90s.

He would go on strike every 7-10 years which was tough on the family depending on how long the strike lasted.

But with a HS education he kept a job, raised and sent four kids to college, full healthcare, bought a 2000 sq ft house and retired at 61 all without my mom working.

Why we need Unions

Wrong, in nearly every one of those strikes, the union prolonged the strike to achieve ends that didn't benefit the members, only the Union and its officials.

Wrong
Most of those strikes were about maintaining benefits and job security.

When my dad retired, the Union was weaker and he lost many of the benefits he had fought for

Say for example you buy a building, and you buy insurance. The insurance costs you 10% of the amount of money you make.

Then a natural disaster strikes and the insurance companies in the area all bump up the price of insurance to say 70% of the amount of money you're making. Is that about "proper preparation" or is this just 9a changing world and bad luck?

Proper preparation can, in many cases, make that difference, but at the same time there is an element of luck about everything. People buy a home in a nice area. Ten years later property prices have dropped massively, happened in Detroit.

How do you properly prepare for that?
If insurance costs 70% of what you’re making, then your business or property is not yielding enough revenue. You either raise prices, if the market will allow it, or you shutter your business and get a job.

Responsible people do what is necessary to support themselves.
