You have a interview where they judge your psychology and personality. You need to pass a check up from the doctor. You need a drivers license at the time you start your job.

Seriously though,
You fill out an application
They search your background
You take a polygraph test and a hair folical test... If you are going for state police they really give you the third degree on any past drug use...That is what a polygraph is for..

If you pass you enter into the next scheduled training course, where you have the privilege of being treated like shit(like basic training) , where you learn to be an asshole to perps and most of society which wish they'd go stand some where else..
Pass course then it 's off to the special store for cop clothes, gun holster you know their combat belt, and other paraphernalia cops need(you pay)...Sometimes you have service weapons and some times you pay for them yourself, and around here they make them buy their own Kevlar vest, so their is always a fund raiser for them..
Then you train with another cop until you feel confident with your newly acquired knowledge and skill, you'll be fucking over perps day and night,,,good luck and happy hunting..
