The United States Constitution formed the Federal Government. The Constitution spelled out at functions for the Federal Government. The Bill of Rights also provided specifics around things like religion, free speech, arms, and other things.

But, we are in a constant battle regarding what constrains or unconstrains our Federal Government. The courts, constant challenges and outright disregard all have a hand in how things proceed.

Curious to know, from conservatives what their view of the constitution is and how that view affects what is determined by the U.S. Constitution.

Rules:

1. Disagreement is encouraged in a productive way. No absolute pronouncments.
2. No bashing of those on the other side or their opinions.
3. No predictions of the future.

I stand with the constitution. The people that do not, are not conservatives, but anarchists, who like little kids, want what they want, right now, unwilling to work through the legislative process. We have had the worst legislative branch during the years 2016 to now, I have ever seen. With the power allowed by the Supremes, I am not too fond of the supreme court, either. Best justice money can buy.

the question was not that, he asks what you believe it means, just saying you support it doesn't explain what you believe it says. For example, what does the 2nd amendment mean? what about the 1st amendment?

The Constitution and it's Amendments is the finest guiding document for a country ever written in my Conservative view. It is also very old and the language not always precise and therefore open to "interpretation".

It is critical IMO to determine what the INTENT of the words were, and not twisting the words for political gain or vengeance.

The Left wants both the First and Second amendment gone.

We all know their preoccupation with limiting and banning firearms. They insist that the First amendment only gave militias the right to bear arms, and not the general populace. But they fail to take note that since the dawn of the Constitution, private individuals have owned firearms. It's not like they did not know that this whole time and were all violating the Constitution by letting those outside militias own firearms. Therefore, their arguments are stupid and blatantly disingenuous.

As for the freedom of speech, about half of Americans now think that there is too much freedom of speech, as it needs to be limited further. Charlie Kirk is dead because he went to Left wing universities where they deplore and freedom of speech which might offend a Leftist.

No, not really.

In terms of legal jargon, it is pretty straight forward, so much so, it pisses off the Left.

I said I fully support the Constitution. The Supremes? I just go along with what they say, whether I like it or not, and that is all I am required to do.
You shouldn't. If SCOTUS told you to jump over a bridge, would you?

For example, Marbury vs Madison gave SCOTUS complete authority on determining what is Constitutional and what is not. Jefferson was enraged by that ruling, and said that was wrong.

Right not, Justice Brown is an absolute laughing stock, as her own Left wing loons try to splain to her that she does not really understand the issues being brought before her, or that she is not following proper procedures.

And yes, justice Brown, we all know what a woman is, thanks for asking.

:laughing0301:

And no, if the Left puts in 8 more stooges like her, what the hell to I care what they say about the Constitution?

I don't.

those are the words of a mindless drone,,
I'll simply leave the marching and financing of lawsuits to you, and enjoy watching, as long as not physically attacked.

The 2nd, protects my rights, before government and individuals, to keep arms, carry arms and if necessary use arm in defense. The first protects my rights to be free of government retribution for speech uttered, written or posted online. Both, go farther, but that is the gist and main purpose, most often discussed.

Let me know when that bridge jumping case comes up.:auiqs.jpg:

I very much like the idea of a Constitution, but I am very displeased with the one we currently have.

Either way, the one we have must be read with the late 18th century voice and mind. It should never be read with a modern mind because that will distort the document considerably.

What requires you to do that?
