"Obamacare" IS a pub style, American style health bill. The misinformation is incredible. ANYTHING to get power to rob and cheat working families. Wake UP!!

The problem was our health costs were doubling every 8 years and there was no system to solve the problem, and we were the only modern country without a health system that covered everyone, all to steal your money.. Duh. Send your regulation suggestions to your bought off Pub representatives. And turn off the BS.

Not really. The Republican Party is 90% white. That can't be denied.

The Democratic Party is a coalition Party. That can't be denied. Especially when you look at all the "conflicting positions":

For and against gay marriage
For and against raising taxes
For and against the two wars
For and against abortion rights

There are conservatives within the Democratic Party.

The Republicans on the other hand, well, do I really have to go there? You guys know your own party.

Dean.....she is talking about YOU....not the Democratic Party.....
1.....you dont come off as a "nice guy".....
2.....you seem to hate others for their Political Views.....
3.....you Stereotype big time.....
4.....and you come across as a big time Hack.....that describes YOU......not the Democratic Party.....pay attention once in a while.....

Wow, glad you don't.

glad i dont what?.....

Your belief that Obamacare "solved" the problem if rising costs is charming.

We're not united because ignorant people listen to BS RW Murdoch/Rush/Pub Propaganda, fool.

Whatever the reasons, Obama's strategy of pursuing Republican style policies failed to 'unite' us. More importantly, it betrayed those who voted for him. In my opinion, the reason he was elected is because people believed he would be an antidote to eight years of Bush and the neocons. Then he turns around and gives us more of the same. And you're trying to pretend that's a good thing?

From what I see, Obamacare is in jeopardy because of its corporatist nature, not in spite of it. It's not the opposition from Republicans that has caused this (they're the opposition party, they're supposed to oppose), it's the lukewarm support of Democrats - and who can blame them? They voted for a Democrat and, as you point out, they're getting Republican solutions.

Obama took his base for granted and assumed that their fear of the neocons would be enough to ensure their support. For many of them, this is still the case. But too many have pulled back and can give only half-hearted support to a program that is the same crap that the Republicans would have served up.

I'm open to learning something new.
 No, you're not.

"Being a liberal" isn't a life accomplishment worthy of respect. It isn't an achievement that puts you above the rest of us. It doesn't give your opinions greater weight. And it isn't a substitute for experience, training, and independent rational thought.

You want to impress me? DO something. Don't just SAY something.

What has the right done? They work to tear down liberal institutions of higher learning and replace them with Bible College. They aren't into science. What percentage of their kids are dropouts?

The right wing is divided into mostly two groups. Incredibly wealthy and an ignorant base.

The title of this thread is, "What is it GOP leaders are doing that generates such strong support from their base?" and so far, none of you have been able to name a single thing. Nothing. Instead of attacking Democrats, what have Republicans done to clean up their disastrous mess under George Bush? And I'll tell you something else. You guys should be ashamed to defend such a terrible record. Seriously ashamed.
So, instead of disproving my assertion that you're not open to learning anything new, you merely prove I'm right.

Remember, folks rderp is the idiot who said the Apollo program wasn't science.

The US spends more on Public education than most countries
and we get the worst results

The good news, it is one of the most socialized systems we have..
Another liberal success

And yet our institutions of higher learning are the best. Could it be because conservatives are being kept from destroying those institutions the way the keep messing up primary and secondary schools?

Magical creation. What moron wants to teach such nonsense to impressionable minds. Talk about hamstringing susceptible children. Ooos, sorry. Uhh, I didn't mean you?
The left has a death grip on all phases of American education. If primary and secondary education is failing --and it is -- it's your fault.

In other words, "Name some policies from the GOP leadership that has helped the Republican base".

The only thing I could think of was "cut taxes". But if you don't have a job, that's not a lot of help and Republicans ran on "Jobs, jobs, jobs".

So what has the leadership accomplished for the Republican base that the base can point to and say, "See"?

It's OK to go all the way back to 2000.

I can't believe someone actually doesn't know what the republicans are doing. So far, they are doing exactly what they were elected to do last November. You must be a dumb liberal to even ask such a dumb idiotic question.

They are doing what they can to get the government out of our lives.

Something anyone who understand freedom would whole heartedly support.

I think he is selective, rather than dumb. He just ignores anything he doesnt like.

The year before Romneycare, HC cost went up 39%. Wow, that's a lot. Medical bills have been the number one reason for bankruptcy since before Bush became president.
Hmmm, guess it wasn't Romney care after all.
