What is a climate scientist?

Traditionally ... climatology is included in the Department of Atmospheric Science, or Department of Meteorology ... not many universities have separate department for these sciences ... and UCLA is the arch-typical form of such departments ... so I would point you to their course catalogue for information on the degree programs available and what is required to receive a degree in climate science ...

Yeah ... calculus ... if that's a problem for you, then regular Atmospheric Science is out ... you'll fail the heavy math ... take a second year of statistics and they'll give you a degree in Climate Science ... so like biologists, not the smartest people in the world ...
Get a degree in a science, follow the money, go for the climate scientist route. Follow the narrative, conclude everything is down to cars, and it's a job for life.

Is that how things have worked out in your career path? Do people pay you for nothing?

No, I didn't go down the fake climate route, I worked for a living, semi retired now.

Translation:

"I have no education or experience in any related field and know less than nothing about climate science."
I did geology OU when working at an accountants. Then worked at a national firm for 15 years as a manager, then self employed for 20 years. I enjoyed geology at school, hence why I carried it on, but never went into a science job. At least I can doy own company accounts.

My foundation course was general science, interesting how you can work out the distance to the moon using one or pictures etc.. The chemistry side of things, I had to dispose of the science kit they gave me (Bunsen burner, flasks, chemicals etc..) so I just gave it to the secondary school that I had attended.

The chemical composition of a mineral that always stuck in my head was for gypsum.

Do you have an example? ... Boeing's CEO earns $32,000,000 per year ... why do you think researchers get paid that much? ...

Most meteorologists work at weather forecasting ... in the various regional NWS offices, MET offices or WMO offices ... ≈ $110,000 per year {Cite} ... yeah, carpenters can make that much in a year ... and without a high school diploma ... that's an extra 8 years earnings or an extra million dollars ... now who's smarter? ...

It can be anybody who can produce reproducible research that advances the science field to the next step.

Cool. Now take all of that education and experience and go sit in a room of researcher PhDs in specialized geology fields.

You'll see.

Such a stupid lie.

Let's destroy it with a demonstration.

Why hasn't the most profitable industry in the history of the planet (fossil fuels) just BOUGHT the science they want?

There is a very simple and easy answer. But people whose brains are tenderized by the cottage Denier industry NEVER get the right answer.

Crick supplies the list a few posts up.

My cousin is a geologist, we have good chats. I'm a God parent to one his kids, so we catch up now and then. But thanks for the tip, but already ticked off.

I like keeping up with geology online, but pardon the pun, not with the ones with their heads in the clouds, I believe Alarmists call those ones Climate Scientists. I like the good ole geologists, not the ones that chase the political agenda for the money.

Less assumption about me please.

Such a stupid post, you have Alarmism bad.

There are two definitions of science. One is a method of inquiry and the other is a body of knowledge. The latter depends on people and people sometimes err. Not always but sometimes. As a method of inquiry anyone can check and find out that the greenhouse effect can't heat the earth the way they say it does --but while that satisfies the individual, the group can still go it's funny little way.

How many people do you know who get paid for nothing?
Politicians, anyone working in local councils as well.

What percentage of the worlds total global man-made greenhouse gas emissions does the food system generate? And what's the split between meat and non meat production?

What percentage does transport contribute and what percentage of that is cars and trucks?

I know the figures.

I have no idea. Why don't you look it up? And then you could explain the relevance of whatever you find.
You're the climate expert around here, you champion that crap, you should know to support your argument.

Sorry, Charlie, but I have more than enough evidence to support my claims here. It's you that needs to do some serious searching.

I have nothing to research for, it's you freaks that are trying to come up with an argument/theory and failing badly.

Two things are a dead cert -

1) The earths climate is complex

and

2) Alarmists have claimed it's simple, just down to man belching out co2

Your repeatedly demonstrated lack of knowledge suggests otherwise.

What argument of mine do you believe has failed badly?

So are our brains.

I have no idea who you intend with the term "alarmists" but mainstream science has never claimed it's simple. But their irrefutable conclusion for quite a few years now has consistently been that the largest driver of our current warming is the greenhouse effect acting on human CO2 emissions. That is not "just down to man belching out CO2" and your phrase once again demonstrates that you could benefit a great deal from a better education.
