I ask because if you really listen to what their leaders and sources say, its all tall tales free of objectivity. It can't be traditional democrat speak, because trump objectively represents much of that, and as a result, the democrats have left that reasoning behind.

Is it their squeaky wheels, which are primarily unhappy women who lead by emotions at the cost of rational thought? How about those with mental issues, who represent much of what the left have become?

Is it the democrats marketing racism that makes the party attractive?

Is it the their policies creating an environment for "inmates to run the prison"?

Perhaps their high taxes while their cities are riddled with chaos, crime and welfare?

Perhaps they're simply drawn to contrary thought and behavior?

What's been pushing the party now are the behind-the-scenes Marxists.
Marxists (Communists, so-called Democratic Socialists and other Socialist elements) know that they can't get elected under their own parties, so they've gotten onboard with the Democrat Party with the intent of changing it, while getting elected under the "Democrat" title.
Tactics that Communists have used are indoctrination in the schools while getting children distanced from their parents (i.e., birthing people and convincing kids in schools to not tell their parents things said in school, etc.}. Divide communities through advocating that things they hear from anyone that isn't on their side, that such things are aggressions or minor aggressions. Hate is what they push and hate has to be fed constantly through rhetoric. That's why they were able to convince most of countries populace into hating on their neighbors and advocate violence, hence millions of their own citizens being killed by Marxist governments and their followers. Here, it's using race and pointing the hate at white men.
Countries like North Korea, which calls itself, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, calls itself "Democratic Peoples Republic" because it convinced its people that Communism was the way and they ignorantly went along with it and have suffered for it ever since.
Whether it's Communism, Democratic Socialism, or Socialism, one thing they are are actual not are Democracies. Once you get rid of all political opposition voices, you cease being Democratic. So when people jump onboard with the Democrat Party, they are jumping onto a party that is intent on becoming a "One-Party-Only" government.....a dictatorship and one that will be murderous to its own people.

Absolutely! I am an old school liberal and today I am called an extremist by these neo-leftists. If there ever was a time to form a third party that separates the old school liberals from the neo-leftists and appeals to the growing number of independents who just can't stand either party, it is now. We need about 5 parties, one for the neo-leftists, one for center left, one for center, one for center right and one for far right. Switzerland has 9 million people and over 20 political parties and has one of the best governments on the planet, and one of the highest standards of living because of it. The only thing stopping America from that is the duality of American politics and the stranglehold the two corrupt parties have on the government.

So, what is the glue that holds the system in place? I think it is Big Money in politics. Ever notice that both parties take turns criticizing Big Money when they lose a majority, and call for reversing Citizen's United, but when they get their control back it's crickets, and the other party starts whining about Big Money? Neither side wants to get rid of Big Money in politics because that would easily open the door to many other parties. The two parties at their core are two sides of the same coin. Everything else is just political propaganda to get the votes necessary to continue serving Big Money.
