James Comey's judge didn't call Lindsey Halligan a 'puppet,' but that didn't stop her or the DOJ from digging a deeper hole
As the defense for former FBI Director James Comey alleged in open court Wednesday that his prosecution was vindictively and selectively brought, and that the circumstances surrounding Lindsey Halligan's appointment as interim U.S. attorney were the case-in-point, the judge asked a simple question of Comey's attorney — specifically, whether he was saying that Halligan was a "stalking horse" or a "puppet."In the aftermath, Halligan and the DOJ transformed U.S. District Judge Michael Nachmanoff's question into an affirmative statement that she was, in fact, a "puppet" doing President Donald Trump's bidding.
It wasn't a good day in court for the DOJ, as Halligan's brief testimony only raised more questions, of potential significance or not, about the validity of the Sept. 25 obstruction and false statement indictment, handed up just three days after the former Trump defense lawyer was appointed and five days before the statute of limitations were set to expire on Sept. 30. The series of events unfolded despite reported determinations by other prosecutors that the evidence against Comey wasn't sufficient.
Halligan, lacking any prosecutorial experience, replaced former interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Erik Siebert two days after the president posted a message directed to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi on Truth Social, bristling that "[n]othing is being done" about "guilty as hell" Comey, Democratic New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.
Comey's judge didn't call Lindsey Halligan a 'puppet,' but that didn't stop her from saying it
After a James Comey hearing, Lindsey Halligan and the DOJ transformed Judge Nachmanoff's question into an affirmative statement that she was a Trump "puppet."
This is the MO the trump regime follows over and over. When incompetent attorneys bring fatuous cases in to courts and get called out for it they lash out at the judge. Eventually claiming they have been victimized by biased judges when they inevitably lose.
Surely by now you folks must be able to see that.
