I generally carry at least two blades and one impact weapon with me at all times. In the accompanying photo you will find a Cold Steel Urban Dart usually carried in a neck-sheath, a CRKT Carson 16-01K, a Monadnock Auto-Lock Jr. Baton, a travel wrench courtesy of Kelly Worden, and a HideAway knife. The travel wrench and HideAway are always on me, and the CRKT is my usual carry in a front pocket. I carry the baton AND the Urban Dart when I'm on call and have to go into dicey neighborhoods late at night.

Any of that legal where you live?

Personally I would carry a loaded 9 mm Automatic with 2 extra clips of 15 round mags. But I do not. My area is not crime ridden and while my paranoia wants me to arm myself my reason trumps that, my guns stay in my closet, untouched for the last 2 or 3 years. And it would be legal here to do so if I paid for the class and paid for the concealed weapon permit.

Wouldn't be carrying it if it weren't. Unfortunately, my job sometimes requires going into crime ridden areas of town late at night to care for patients.

Dang, dude, you mean you don't rely on diplomacy?

Sorry, could't resist.

Looks like you have a good assortment without packing ballistics.

Diplomacy is good, but one should always always have a some bit(s) of nastiness at hand to help persuade the offending party that standing down is the wiser course. ;)

Gee. I guess you're not referring to packing for a vacation. :eusa_shifty:

A switchblade, but I've never needed to use it. It just became habit when I grew up where I did...

Being a full time student, my usual Swiss Army knife would get me expelled and in juvy for about a year, eh? Though its summer, so this: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Swiss-Soldier-Pocket-Silver/dp/B000687B5I[/ame]
gets carried around with me when Im not wearing athletic shorts. Aside from that, I've got two big guns permanently attached to me

Bullypulpit - not to tell you what to do or not do, but if you're ever put into a situation where you must use force to protect your life, an overzealous DA or a personal injury lawyer could potentially have a field day with your collection of knives and accoutrements. Just a thought. But, as they say, better to be tried by twelve than carried by six.

Seriously though, knives and sticks don't do you any good beyond close range. What do you do if somebody pulls out a crossbow?

That's why I carry the impact weapons. The blades are a back-up, and normally the only ones I carry are the Hideaway and the CRKT. The Urban Dart is when I'm going into a rough neighborhood after sundown.

I have a concealed carry permit but seldom pack anything other than a swiss army knife. Which I consider a tool.

Just out of curiosity...is the Urban Dart actually made for throwing? Obviously by the looks of it it is, but is that how you [intend to maybe someday] use it?

The grind on the Urban Dart is primarily for penetration and used with either an ice-pick grip, for thrusting, or a modified fencer's grip with the butt of the hilt nestled in your palm for slashing. And the blade transitions easily from one position to the other. Although with arnis/escrima/kali/silat. slashing techniques are taught from the ice-pick grip as well. It is not balanced for throwing. And I hope to never have to use it. Knowing anatomy as I do, the implications of ANY knife wound can be devastating.

I pack a sharp educated and intelligent mind, a very healthy body, and strong and fast legs. There is very little violent crime where I live. My job and lifestyle does not require me to travel into dangerous locations at dangerous times of the night (or day). So if I ever think that I might walk into trouble, I’ll think fast and run faster.

:D
