What came first, 'consciousness' or the Big Bang?

I've been reading about a theory that before the "Big Bang" event, there was for lack of a better term ' pure consciousness'. There is no mention of 'God' or "Soul" I've seen so far. It seems to be a more generalized attempt to explain what is basically unexplainable. I think it is as reasonable as any current theory about the origins of the universe. There are Quantum Physicists, Schrodinger among them who support this universe model. Interesting to think about.

If your wife or girlfriend drifts off into unconsciousness while you're banging her, you have a problem.

Don't ask me how I know this.
They fall in love .. that could be the problem as I recall .. 😅

.. and I'm happily married .. btw.
.

Most Vedic scholars would agree. What you are describing is the mind of God, which is the same as saying his body, which had to exist before the universe was created since the universe flowed out from God's mind and will.

Turtles all the way down.

Don' t fall into the trap of personalising Universe .
It leads to Cult Religions - amongst a lot of things .
Suddenly the idea of God appears and then other Demi -Urges ( Jesus/ Buddha type figures ).

The" point "about about Universe as Consciousness is that here in the Matterium we are each the Singularity and effectively a transformed electro magnetic bio field that interacts on a quantum basis .

I have been a student of this perspective for decades .
But am forever stumped by the question of Why and How a self aware Singularity (Universe) made a decision , let alone one that made it want to act ( create) .
For What possible reason?
Many cutting edge minds here suggest Boredom / Loneliness .
That initially seems daft . But less so as time ( as we experience it) seems to pass .

We can't help but personalize the universe because that is how we are wired.

So, the question begs, why are are wired this way?

Maybe because their is a personal God who made us in his image perhaps? In fact, anything you or I create is a reflection of ourselves, is it not?

In reality, if there is a God who is impersonal, such a God is already dead to us even if such a God exists, in which case, who really cares?

The fundamental question is what significance is such an event as the "big bang" if there were no perception of it? Indeed, without consciousness to receive it, arguing that it would even have happened is vacuous.

Indeed.

Let me illustrate

I asked God and this is what He told me:

Don’t worry about what came first, the “chicken or the egg.” We are just here and that’s the only fact that matters. Whether we are a computer generated Matrix, some kind of an alien colony, or truly the descendants of an Adam and Eve is irrelevant. Humans love to question things like this and that’s perfectly okay. What we need to remember is that God is and Jesus is Lord. Anything else is heresy - so, go to church and forget about it.

Why does the closely related religion of Judaism disagree with your assertion that Jesus is Lord?

Yeah, no. consciousness didn't evolve until billions of year after the big bang.

Jews don’t recognize sin or the need for a divine savior. The second coming is meaningless to them.

They simply don’t believe The Messiah is divine.

I respect that, even if I don’t agree. We all are free to believe anything we want.

My faith teaches me to believe, even if nothing can be proven.

(Jesus was Jewish)

The "consciousness before the Big Bang" theory intentionally leaves God, religion and Faith out of the discussion.

Fair enough.

I guess my underlying point was ask questions - it’s important. Just don’t drive yourself crazy in the process (Been there, done that).

That’s where religion comes in for me. Keeps my head on straight.

Anyways, I’ve seen many geniuses go insane about this very topic. Would not wish it on anyone.

We personalize the universe because we are a personality. Part and parcel of the Supreme Personality, we are a very finite part of what the Supreme manifests in infinite capacity.

In reality, if there is a God who is impersonal,
Truth be known, God is both personal and impersonal. Or more broadly stated, his impersonal aspect is merely his more basic, outer covering, but within that is his personal self, between the two are created all aspects of this phenomenal universe from the cold gas and dust to the sublime consciousness, knowledge and compassion.

I appreciate that. It doesn't really bother me, actually it's reassuring to think about an omni-present consciousness that we all belong to, regardless of ones' beliefs.
