What are some of your favorite concerts you've attended?

One of the times I saw Ozzy he sounded like crap and said he had the flu and left after not even an hour. He was probably just shitfaced drunk.

Then the next time he came to town he apologized and played for almost 4 hours.
When he came back, how long ago was that prior concert? It's cool that he not only remembered, but he gave y'all an extended show to make up for what he didn't deliver earlier. :) :) :)

God bless you and his family always!!!

I bet his wife made him do it. He did say something unintelligible about her.

The Who at the Marquee Club in oh, gosh...1965? It's so long ago I don't remember the year. Then there's Pink Floyd at the Countdown Club. That was definitely 1965, first light show I had ever seen.

Traffic in Santa Monica in 1972. Outstanding show.

Then the next truly impressive show was The Wall tour in LA.

Finally, I think the last great show I saw was Bowie in New Zealand in 1987 IIRC.

Recently Robert Plant and Allison Krause in Southlake back in 2022 was pretty damned good.

Bonnie Raitt in Reno a couple of years ago was great too.

Andy Summers several times in the 1990s, three times in the 2000s (two times with The Police), and two times so far in the 2020s. So I've seen him in his 50s, 60s (with The Police), and now his 80s.

The Police at Giants Stadium in 2007 and at PNC Bank Arts Center in 2008.

Michael Nesmith at BergenPAC during his 2013 Movies of the Mind tour.

Art Garfunkel in the early 1990s.

Pat Metheny Group in the early 1990s at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, at the Beacon Theatre in the early 2000s, and at BergenPAC in the late 2000s (my mom became a fan after I took her to the first show and then she wanted to see him whenever he was nearby, so all three times with her).

Bruce Hornsby at PNC Bank Arts Center in 1993 and then in 2007 for free at City Hall Park right across from J&R Music World in New York City, where he and his band -- Christian McBride and Jack DeJohnette -- signed copies of Hornsby's 2007 instrumental jazz album, Camp Meeting. I met and got autographs from all three, and later in the year I saw Christian McBride with Pat Metheny at BergenPAC. When I was talking to McBride about that upcoming performance, Bruce asked what BergenPAC is. Since then he's performed there.

Oh, and incidentally, McBride just recently released a new CD featuring a cover of Murder By Numbers with Sting on vocals and Andy Summers on guitar.

And DeJohnette, whom Summers wanted to do an album with but never got to, just died this autumn.

Diana Krall
Ray Charles
Ella Fitzgerald
Robben Ford
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Jimi Hendrix (In May of 1969)

Some of my favorites include Bryan Adams opening for Van Halen in 1984, Gary Moore opening for Rush also in 1984, Merle Haggard opening for Bob Dylan in 2006 and Steve Winwood opening for Tom Petty in 2007 or 2008. These are just some that come to mind and I attended all of them in Arizona.
I saw Twisted Sister at a very small venue back in the 80s. the energy was incredible. Dee Snyder was stage diving the mosh pit, the whole show was insane.

Saw Candlebox at a bar in Hutchinson KS. That was pretty amazing too.

I was also privileged to be on the outskirts of the crowd for the Monsters of Rock concert at Tushino airport in late 1991. I was so far from the stage I couldn't hear much or see anything at all but it was a piece of rock and roll history.

Recently the best show I've seen is Babymetal.

I’ll put this lineup up against anyone’s ( seeing how almost half of these shows I was Crew ( Drum Tech ) and got to be Onstage / Backstage and meet the Performers

God this thread just reminds me I have not been to an arena concert since dynamic pricing started. We are supposed to see a small venue Styx show next year, but I forget the date. My wife keeps teasing that she may drag me to Boy George & Culture club as well, We'll see....
We're going to see Styx next year, too. February. Cheap Trick is opening. Should be a good show.

My all-time favorite concert was the Violent Femmes back in the day.

Funny you mentioned Violent Femmes. They played a free outdoor concert at my college for something or the other and were booked in at this odd ass time like 2 pm and virtually nobody showed up, so there were like a couple dozen of us and whatever stragglers between classes stopped by for a few minutes. It was kind of sad and actually kind of cool so it was like having them at your backyard birthday party or something.

I saw them in Iowa City when I attended the University of Iowa. The place was packed shoulder-to-shoulder. Excellent show.

They played well on the quad but it was sad that so few people showed up for it. The band probably didn't care as they were paid either way. I think they had some local clubs booked in town too while they were there. A buddy of mine came to town just to go to this free show and even he was shocked at how few people came to it. In reality, otherwise I wouldn't have gone either but for him coming in. It was just poorly planned.
