I don't know how much FDR expected to extract from the British but David Irving is far from the only historian who has revealed Germany's numerous attempts to establish a neutrality with the Western Allies to concentrate on fighting ever expanding Communism / Bolshevism.(1) that was preparing to invade Western Europe on or near 1 June 1941 (M. - Day; aka Mobilization Day).

Churchill, who refused to meet with Hess to discuss a peace agreement with Germany already deployed British intelligence agents to the US to work on changing the anti war sentiments of about 80% of Americans with fake German invasion plans. (2).

The usual WW 2 propaganda poured into most gullible heads is that Hitler wanted to conquer the world and kill all of the world's Jews however there is nothing credible to support either fable.

I'm afraid that you're perfectly right.

I am amazed at the number of people who don't realize that the Allies with a complicit Hollywood had among the most successful propaganda campaigns of anyone during and well after WW 2.

America's propaganda ministry during was the O.W. I. (Office of War Information) which worked / works closely with Hollywood to churn out fictional WW 2 and melodramatic Holocaust fodder to dupe the gullible.

Finally, it is regrettable that all most Americans know about WW 2 and the Holocaust is whatever one dimensional and hyperbolic slurry Hollywood pours into their head.

What ever happened to the teaching of badly needed Critical Literacy?
