We are TOO white...

What's the matter? The guy not being PC enough for you? If he had phrased the same concept in less blunt terms everyone would still have never heard of this school.

Whats the matter is he should be focusing on educating kids not the color of their skin.

Why can't you liberals see past skin color? If you really wanna help blacks start volunteering in the inner city.

They should follow the examples of Morehouse College and Howard University, where the percentage of white students is just right.

I really don't care that much about the story, I am just wondering why you seem upset about it? Schools have diversity programs all over to get as many cultures and ethnicities enrolled as possible because it is a huge benefit to the educations received there. It almost seems that you object to diversity as a goal in education.

Unless the school is rejecting people based on color, they aren't doing a damn thing wrong. The focus should be on ensuring a good education for all students. Why is there a need to spend money and effort to court certain races?

They've already messed with public schools, so time to move on to colleges.

I don't like division. I don't like special programs for certain races. I hate it when the left is obsessed with color to the point where they'd seek to rearrange the world to be color balanced. Let people go where they wish and leave them alone. If black people don't apply to a certain college or favor another, respect their choices and butt out. Same with all people. Don't overrule parents' choices with public schools by bussing their children farther away to make yourself happy and keep your opinion to yourself when they choose colleges.

The left starts this shit all the time. Bussing school children away from the school districts their parents chose is oppressive. Many move to neighborhoods just because of the schools. This is all about creating an issue where there is none. To make headlines, some will focus on the least important thing, color, and make it sound like there is something wrong. It's all about dividing people and pitting races against each other. The 'solution' is forcing people together to create the illusion of unity so some control freaks can pat themselves on the back. In reality, they are just feeding their own obsession. All it does is create resentment because people are being forced to attend schools they didn't choose for themselves.

Funny thing is that part of Washington is like 90% white. WTF are they going to do about it? Import non-whites.

How ******* racist...I truly believe the liberal wishes to wipe whites out and subject great pain on him. How's that for equality and a better world? If that is how they feel I don't want it.

Is "pushing diversity" good when someone says "There's too many White people here!"? That sounds racist to me.

Here where I live, the College of Charleston has a diversity recruitment program too. Their school is something like 93% white, in a state and metro area that is around 40% black.

I see nothing wrong if a school wants to push for that. It makes the learning environment look and feel more like the real world.

Cant say I'd send my kid to a school that focused a lot of energy on diversity. But, that's my choice, and its the choice of CofC, or Bellinham University, to address that and advertise that they are addressing it.

Don't like a college doing that? Don't send kids there.

Instead send them to conservative Bob Jones University in SC.......which until 2000 had a ban on people of different races dating, and has a long history of being anti-minority, anti-gay, anti-anything that isn't Old Testament style religious.

You talk about the "real world" and needing to reflect it. I think our prisons do that just fine. No need to transfer that policy to our education system

University in Bellingham too white, says president | KING5.com Seattle

"If in a few years we are as white as we are now we've failed as a university". His basic point

"If in a few years you focus on this shit instead of educating your students you've failed" my point

My niece (half Asian) and her husband (Black) both graduated from that university. How can it be too white?

Because Asian's are considered white now.

Minority doctors in short supply in state.

At the same time, the state has a disproportionate number of Asian and white doctors, according to the UCSF study, which focuses on doctor ethnicity and language fluency.
