Of course they workNo...moron......uniformed soldiers cannot be waterboarded. That is against the Geneva Convention. Terrorists can be waterboarded because they are not protected by the Convention...they are not fighting for a national military, they do not fight according to the rules of war, and they fight without uniforms among civilian populations......
And other countries routinely torture our captured soldiers...the socialist countries are well known for that.
It is torture or it isn't.
If we declare it to be an acceptable tool to obtain information than other nations can use our own acceptance as justification for waterboarding
How can we prosecute a war crime for something we do?
And of course you ignore the point.....we do not waterboard the soldiers of other countries...they are protected by the convention...our military does not do it...the CIA does it.
Waterboarding is effective. It doesn't harm the people it is used on. The tell you the information you need. It saves lives.
Terrorists are not protected......and protecting them engangers innocent people. As one expert pointed out, giving terrorists the same protection as soldiers encourages soldiers to violate the laws of war.....since there will be no price to pay for not doing so...
Again.......we do not waterboard the soldiers, uniformed soldiers fighting for a nation state....and we do not waterboard American Citizens or criminals captured on U.S. soil.....we should waterboard illegal, enemy combatants captured in war zones....they are breaking the law and are criminals.....who do not have the protection of the U.S. Constitution or the Geneva convention...
A soldiers status is up to his captor
By your argument, a pilot who bombs a civilian villiage can be declared a terrorist and water boarded until he confesses his crimes
That is why torture does not work. Even if you get the "results" you wish
Wrong......not even close......waterboarding and torture do work.....what is it about that that you guys can 't understand...if you waterboard someone, and they lie....and you check it out....you go back to him...there is no point in lying....what you say is checked out...moron....same thing with actual torture.......they check out what you say...
They don't waterboard you, get the information and let you go.....and then think...Gosh Darn it, he lied to us and we let him go.....
Are you really that stupid...or do you just pretend to be that stupid?
You want a confession...you get it
You want information...he will flood you with information until you stop
But the worse thing is the country committing torture has sunk as low as the terrorist
Not even close. A country that uses waterboarding on the leaders of a terrorist movement, caught on a battlefield, having committed rape, torture and murder is not becoming like the terrorists. The country will have chosen the least physically taxing of the methods to force cooperation, the terrorist will not be harmed, they will suffer no short term or permanent damage and they will give up the information quickly and easily......they can then be detained for as long as the country wants to put up with them.
innocent lives will have been spared maiming, torture rape and death, without compromising the principals of our country.....lives saved.....without permanent harm to the monsters who forced us to go to war......that is moral...your points...are immoral and spread evil.
