The conversation in question pertained to the violent Black Lives Matter riots that devastated Minneapolis in the summer of 2020, in which a clip taken out of context appears to show Trump praising the Democratic state leader for his handling of the crisis.
When listening to the entirety of Trump’s comments, it is clear he only applauded Walz after he deployed the National Guard as suggested by the former president. Kelly pointed out, “You could hear him saying, ‘We’ve got all these men and women, we’ve got all the people you need, but people calling them up. You have to dominate … You have to use the National Guard.’”
