There is no way to accurately fact check anything the gov't tells us. Any truthful info is classified for national security reasons. They even manufacture false paths to go down. This problem is not unique to either party and has been going on for a long time.

The upshot of this is that we have no choice except to trust people that we know going in can't be trusted.
