Who exactly is it they are protecting and serving? Of all places for gross abuses of civil rights to occur, almost prominently against racial minorities, our nation's capitol.

“They came in like Rambo,” said Taylor, a soft-spoken 63-year-old grandmother who was dressed in a white nightgown and said she has never had even a speeding ticket.

The heavily armed squad thought they were searching the residence of a woman arrested two miles away the previous night for carrying a half-ounce vial of PCP.

Taylor, who did not know the woman, was terrified. Trembling, she told police that the woman did not live there. Officers spent 30 minutes searching the house anyway, going through her boxes and her underwear drawer. They found no drugs and left without making an arrest.

The search warrant executed at Taylor’s apartment cited no evidence of criminal activity there. Instead, in an affidavit to a judge, police argued that they should be able to search for drugs there based on their “training and experience” investigating the drug trade. They relied on an address they found in a court-records system for the woman arrested with PCP.

Pursuing drugs and guns on scant evidence, D.C. police sometimes raid wrong homes — terrifying the innocent

The judge that signed the warrant should be thrown off the bench. There was no probable cause for the warrant.

That's your right hand. So who took the picture? Bro....you got to Glamour Shots to get a shirtless avatar pick??? Or you got a selfie stick haha?

Why you biting your fingernails in your yearbook photo? Gross.

Why is it that out of control police departments all seem to be in Liberal controlled cities?

Easy. Liberal cities are full of huge numbers of liberal criminals so more cop vs criminal incidents happen....and thus...more bad police incidents.

He's the freak chewing his fingernails in a shirtless Glamour Shot selfie he used for his avatar. He will be banned from being within a mile of schools soon.

I wish to clarify that the title of this thread suggests what America is becoming -- not what it is.

While it certainly is true that America is not (yet) a police state there is no question that several of the most prominent components of that intimidating sociopolitical condition are already in place and are subject to being implemented by the federal government at any time. One of these components is the emergence of an imposingly massive system of confinement (prison) facilities, the capacity and existing census of which exceeds those of the former USSR, China and North Korea, combined.

Another component common to police states is the rising degree of militarization of our civil police in terms of military-grade equipment, training and crowd control procedures. While the National Guard has quietly merged into regular Army functions its former role has been succeeded by the civil police. 1033 Program

But the most intimidating police state component of all has been the increasingly common practice of "no-knock," early-morning break-ins which, while once an extremely rare exercise of police authority, have become imposingly routine and take place several times a day all over the Nation.
Botched Paramilitary Police Raids

It wasn't long ago that warrants to conduct a no-knock break-in were rarely issued and were issued only under the most demanding circumstances (apprehension of extremely dangerous felons). Now it seems these warrants are carelessly issued without judicial concern, often for reasons as petty as "suspicion" of minor drug activity.

The existence of these break-ins, alone, clearly justifies the suggestion that America Is Becoming A Police State!
