The Monroe Doctrine is a United States foreign policy position that opposes European colonialism in the Western Hemisphere. It holds that any intervention in the political affairs of the Americas by foreign powers is a potentially hostile act against the United States.[1] The doctrine was central to American grand strategy in the 20th century.[2]

President James Monroe first articulated the doctrine on December 2, 1823, during his seventh annual State of the Union Address to Congress (though it was not named after him until 1850).

In terms of Venezuela, they fall under the Monroe Doctrine. However, Venezuala was nothing more than a proxy for China, who is an adversary of the US.

Much of Venezuela's exported oil is sold to China, although Beijing declares very little and imports are often rebranded. Imports hit about 470,000 ‌bpd during 2025, according to energy analytics firm Vortexa, or roughly 4.5% of China's seaborne crude imports.

Venezuela also was importing drugs into the US that helps kill thousands of Americans every year.

And lastly, the piss poor was Maduro treated his own people, owning more gold and oil than any other country on earth and instead focusing on waging war on the US in various was as China's proxy, was enough in my opinion to justify doing pretty much anything to the man.

I know I have personally had enough of watching the devastating results of the drug epidemic all around me, as each of us has been effected by it on some personal level. I also see what the drug cartels are doing to the people of Central and South America which is why they all are wanting to flood the US border.

Enough!!

Right? Lets just take over the south american continent. America first! Taking over thrid world shit holes will make america great again!
If Trump says so, the OP will happily support it.

You mean ignore the drugs they send Americans that kill hundreds of thousands as well as immigrants flooding America.

That has been done until now.

And never mind China exerting power and influence over the American sphere.

Trump is the first President not trying to manage the decline of America, and actually try to turn things around.

We know there will always be an excuse to justify what he does.
There is actually justification, which I just provided.

I bet you think that the removal of Gaddafi was justified even though he was helping to murder zero Americans, he took care of his own people to the tune of them having the best standard of living in Africa thanks to their oil, and he was no where close to be covered within the Monroe Doctrine. BTW, Venezuela has more oil than Libya as well as massive gold reserves, removing any doubt just how corrupt Maduro was having his people eat of garbage cans.

Cuz Obama was all that since he won his Nobel Peace Prize for bombing the hell out of Libya.

Trump pardoned a kingpin from Columbia.
He is giving Venezuelans asylum.

Too many people use the term "America First" when they mean "America Only" style isolationism, which doesn't work in the modern world.

Nothing wrong with helping friendly countries and smacking around unfriendly ones as long as it is in the interest of the United States.

Was it justified to impose the Cuban Missile blockade for JFK?

As I said, this is not just about drugs, but drugs alone is justification enough for this action since the number of American lives lost every year from them.

The drug trade is an act of war by the cartels, but you obviously disagree

Every country should have the right to defend itself.

If it were me, I would impose drone warfare on cartels all around the world.

Was it justified to impose the Cuban Missile blockade for JFK?

Yes. It wasn't a complete blockade, but only one for nuclear armed ballistic missiles, and in the end, it worked.

Russia could have said they controlled the rockets, but you still had to worry about Castro taking them over if pushed.

AGAIN, most of Venezuelas drugs dont even come here.
He didnt do this for drugs or immigration. He did it for oil. It is imperialism.
The fact that you have to bring up stuff that is barely even applicable to justify this, should tell you something.

Oh, is that what he is doing?
Again, it is the big picture

It's like Al Capone who ran soup kitchens. He did this to create an air of legitimacy. It just turned out that the "good" he did in no way outweighed the "bad" he did, so they decided to get rid of him.

But the problem with Maduro is, he did not attempt to do any "good" to give himself legitimacy, as one of the richest countries on earth starved it's own people.

That is why USAID gave money to poor folk. It was so they could launder money for other things, like giving money to media outlets like Reuters so that the government could help control the media. That way, if and when anyone went to dismantle it, you would hear the cries of people regarding the poor folk who are no longer helped. No doubt, when Trump is gone, it will be back and running on steroids once again.

Or take the Clinton Foundation. They too helped the "poor folk" a little, but used most of it to launder money as well.

Maduro simply was not smart enough to do this, as no one can point to any good he actually did, along with making a myriad of enemies by rigging elections, oppressing his own people mercilessly, and murdering hundreds of thousands of Americans.

You deny that those drugs have killed thousands of Americans?

How many Americans dying would it take for you to support this?

My guess is there is no number.

And again, treating his own people poorly has led to an immigration crisis that has cost the US billions of dollars.

The big picture is, he wants an oil boom to be tied to his name. He will use imperialism to accomplish it.
All that shit you are saying, is barely applicable here.
