Warren Blasts Elon Musk’s Government Power Grab

Yes, just like when Americans weren't permitted to own too much gold (there was a cap on gold assets). The US government can say, all net income above x amount is taxed at 100% and you're not permitted in this society to have more than 100 million in assets. That's the end of the billionaire oligarch-class, who have more money and power than many countries.

They won't.

Who is this government that could do that?

Billionaires in this country have done more for the middle class than your politician heros ever have.

demofks have never helped middle class in the last 25 years. Bill Clinton actually did.

They won't.

Are you sure about that Todd? Because your beloved Lord Elon is pushing for free money from Uncle Sam:

He's pooping in his Fruit of the Looms:

He wants to cut cut cut government spending, for the government to give him and his billionaire buddies, a massive monthly bailout of hundreds of billions of dollars. Trillions yearly, to preserve his wealth and power. Why should the American people, allow a tiny group of billionaires, to preserve "their" wealth and power to the detriment of everyone else? Why should Elon continue owning the means of production, under such horrible conditions, when the American people (the working class = 94% of the population), can own and manage it collectively, through their democratic government?

There's no need for our government to spend trillions yearly propping up Elon and other billionaires, creating an artificial customer base of worthless, unemployed serfs. The working class will continue to have jobs, and we will all own the means of production (robots, artificial intelligence, land, mines, factories..etc), TOGETHER, collectively (it's our commonwealth), whether Elon likes it or not. He won't continue to control and own the means of production, because mass production is a social endeavor, not a private one.

More democracy in the workplace, and a higher standard of living for everyone, because the working class will own and manage the means of production (advanced automation and artificial intelligence, along with everything else), together. It's coming to a theater near you Todd, and it's not fiction, it's real.

so, where's the ask for free money?

No wages (No jobs) = no money for billionaires. The wealthy capitalist ruling class, profits from workers, who earn a wage through their labor (jobs), because a worker = a paying consumer. The customers who buy goods and services from capitalists, are the same people who work for them, earning a wage. Customers need to earn wages (have a job), in order to purchase goods and services, sold by capitalists. No wages = no profits = no capitalists.

Hence that is why we see billionaires, talking about the government giving everyone a UBI or "Universal Basic Income". They want to preserve their wealth and power, at the expense of practically everyone else, turning the working class into worthless consumer serfs relying on a monthly government check. They plan to continue to remain in control of the means of production (advanced automation, genius robots, artificial intelligence, the land, mines, factories, all of the facilities and machines, and vehicles of the productive enterprise..).

Socialists like me don't care if Elon keeps his toys and lives in a mansion, with a fleet of Ferraris and his megayachts anchored in his private marina, as long as the working class (94% of the population), takes possession of the means of production. It's our commonwealth, and we will manage production in collaboration with our democratic government. Working together, we will produce all of the goods and services that we consume and use. It's that simple.

Everyone will still be employed because employment will no longer depend upon whether it's profitable for the rich. Work is good for human development and life. We work, but our labor will be much more fruitful and our lives will be much better, thanks to advanced technology and more democracy in both the workplace and government.

Senator Warren’s speech underscores a vital warning about the dangers of allowing one individual, especially one who is not an elected representative, to exert such extensive control over a major component of government operations. She highlights the fact that critical systems, like those responsible for sending Social Security checks, paying Medicare bills, and funding essential services, should remain in the hands of democratically accountable institutions rather than a single person’s private enterprise. Her concerns are particularly urgent because these are the mechanisms that safeguard our most vulnerable populations: seniors, patients, children, and ordinary families who rely on timely disbursement of federal funds.

In defending Senator Warren’s position, it’s clear that she champions the principle of government by the people, for the people. She rallies the public to resist concentrated power and reminds us that these systems were built to serve everyone, not to be subject to the personal decisions of someone who has never faced the voters. By calling attention to the broader implications of one individual’s influence, Senator Warren is advocating for a democratic check on power to ensure that vital services continue to flow responsibly. Her stance sends a powerful message that we should remain vigilant and engaged to protect the foundations of our democracy.

Why is everyone up in arms about Elon Musk confirming what everyone knew already - that we are being ripped off.

Here is a message for all the Dems who want to keep the criminal status quo...

(Profanity warning)

I still don't see him asking for anything free. explain.

I'm sure the US government won't say, "all net income above x amount is taxed at 100% and you're not permitted in this society to have more than 100 million in assets".

You think Bill Gates would approve that?

15th post
Ping me when your idea comes up for a vote.

Any day now, eh comrade?
Your lord Elon admits a UBI is needed. Cut cut cut cut government spending...Oh, wait, we need a UBI now, trillions yearly.

The irony here is that most of you who support Elon here on the forum, are pensioners, living on your Social Security, and relying on Medicare for your healthcare. You're placing all of that, at risk. It's not just the poor people on Medicaid or food stamps that you don't particularly care about, who are going to be affected. You, the MAGA working class, are essentially handing our government to a bunch of billionaire plutocrats, who don't give a rat's ass about you or anyone else, but themselves.

So far, Musk has acted more in my interest than any Democrat ever has.

I wonder why so many Democrats oppose ending government waste. I can't think of a single rational reason. Can you explain it?
