Wartime spending is all that has kept the Russian economy out of a recession. Russia has been spending its cash reserves to keep war production and imports moving. Iran isn't giving Russia the drones its expending and the DPRK has been charging Russia through the nose for the artillery shells it has been using to kill Ukrainian troops. Unlike the West, China, Iran and North Korea haven't been giving Russia aid in the war, they have been making enormous profits.

The USA didn't and doesn't dictate foreign policy to any of the countries where we have bases like the Russians did. When Hungary and Czechoslovakia tried to change their governments away from Soviet Communism, the Russians sent in troops. When the people of Ukraine wanted to move towards the West and away from the Russians and impeached the pro-Russian president installed by Russia, the Russians invaded the country and are still trying to conquer it in a "special military operation" FOUR YEARS LATER. The USA never did that. When Japan asked the USA to leave Okinawa, we did, When the Philippine government asked us to leave, we did. You can't even remotely compare the American conduct with the Russian conduct.

We can guess that the war will soon be over. Donetsk is fully conquered and only parts of Luhansk are not controlled by Russia. We can assume that Russia will be able to significantly reduce its war efforts once Luhansk has been conquered, too.
