NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks slumped on Wall Street Tuesday after President Donald Trump threatened to hit eight European countries with new tariffs as tensions escalate over his attempts to assert American control over Greenland.

The losses were widespread, with nearly every sector losing ground. Major indexes in the U.S. extended losses from last week in what has been a wobbly start to the year.

The S&P 500 fell 143.15 points, or 2.1%, to 6,796.86. It is the steepest drop for the benchmark index since October.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 870.74 points, or 1.8%, to 48,488.59. The Nasdaq composite fell 561.07 points, or 2.4%, to 22,954.32.

As Trump plays out his Narcissistic delusions about Greenland, he tanking the U.S. Economy. He has very severe dementia and he will destroy country this to achieve his goal.

Funny how the libs, RINO'S, and Trump haters never talk about the stock market when it is going up and setting records

The stock market is a long term investment tool. I bet none of the whiners will say a word when the Dow hits 50,000

Isn't that something? They expect the market not to come down for a day under Trump. When under Biden, several incidents of the market crashing but not a word from leftists.

Trump will get his way by playing naive alarmists, such as yourself, and you-they will never see it coming. MAGA

Remember the NY Slimes Paul Slugman? He sneered how the Dow would never survive the first Trump term

Nothing has changed. I hope these Trump haters have all shorted their investments

So, you're saying the economy was just fine until yesterday?

Great, better pull your $50 investment from the market...dumbass.

I'll take it!

DOW up 377 today at 8:48 am
It has rebounded after Trump promised to not invade Greenland, attacking a NATO ally. I simply want him to not do anything intentionally stupid out of spite, and leave the economy alone, at least until after my March snapshot funds backed against the S&P.

Far more of my assets are in cold, hard metal in my safe. After 1929, I have difficulty seeing any assets I have in the market as something other than ones and zeros. Not real money at all.

But gold and silver continue to soar.

You're doing well because of Trump. Relax and enjoy it.

Yea, I don't have anything in precious metals. I'm about 50-50 in the market and real estate. Not that I would have minded the metals, guess hindsight is always 20-20.

That's what they say.

The only real estate I have is my home on a quarter acre.
