CDZ Vladimir Putin: The Voice of Reason?

No doubt this press conference is highly stage managed, but is Vladimir Putin making some common sense points regarding US/Russian antagonism?

Our ruling class has looked at Russia with undisguised hostility and fear for almost a century. We profoundly misjudge the Russian people and their government. The USSR was a nasty bit of work, although nothing like the threat posed by Hitler's Germany. We've recovered from the Nazi nightmare completely but despite the lack of Russian aggression and the generation that has passed since the USSR folded its tent, we still see Russia through a Cold War squint.

The only objection to Putin is that he is making obumble look like the ignorant fool he is.

It sounds to me like Putin is saying that the US is the bad guy- they have military bases all over the world, they spend more money than Russia on defense- so shut up about what Russia is doing!
