Kelly just came back from a trip to Ukraine. He's made a number of comments based on what he saw and Ukrainians he spoke to.

Kelly said in his initial post Sunday that his trip over the weekend to the war-torn country, where he met with military members, nurses and others, had reaffirmed his commitment to not give up on the Ukrainian people. He added that any peace deal with Russia “has to protect Ukraine’s security and can’t be a giveaway” to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Look at things logically. How do we guarantee Ukrainian independence? We are already a party to a treaty to which Russia is also a signatory to that end. As I see it, only putting American troops on the ground in Ukraine can enforce the treaty and Russia will never accept that. I’m in favor of ending the war and killing, but Russian and the free worlds aims for Ukraine are incompatible. Putin will not accept armed peacekeepers that might interfere with his resumption of hostilities when he rebuilds his forces.
