vivek ramaswamy calls juneteenth a useless holiday.

in texas they say that is day their blacks became free., if they want to have a holiday there i dont care. dont push it all other stated it does not apply too.

Juneteenth celebrates the last of the slaves being liberated
4 million freed from bondage is worthy of celebrating.

Seems appropriate as it serves to give loads of government workers another free paid holiday off doing nothing and most of the people in the government are black anyway.
All states did not have slaves. Juneteenth only happened in Texas that is were it should stay. just in south they have emancipation day were it happened at. this holiday was so called holiday was expanded to push racial separation.

Slavery was a US institution
Its end was a milestone for all Americans

Why do states that were not part of the original 13 celebrate the 4th of July?
It was not their independence

So does Dec 25
On Dec 25, we Celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. On Juneteenth, nothing at all happened. They celebrate what actually happened on April 9.
See the difference?

No it doesn't. It's the day that word reached Texas that the civil war ended on April 9. No slaves were freed. Nothing happened except the spread of a bit of gossip.

Jesus Christ was born sometime in March.
We choose Dec 25 to celebrate his birth.

We choose June 19 to celebrate the end to slavery

What is useless about commemorating the end of slavery?

Slavery did not end on the day a Union General informed slaves in Texas of the Emancipation Proclamation. Indeed, slavery still existed in places after “Juneteenth”.

Slavery ended in December 1865 when the ratification of the 13th Amendment was proclaimed.

You are welcome for my educating you with facts.

What day is the actual day Jesus was born?

Slavery ended on April, 9. We know that. There are meticulous records.

Slavery continued after April 9.
Even if we chose April 9 to celebrate the end of slavery, Conservatives like the OP would still object to it.

Juneteenth is a good date.
