You are the one who is clueless. The markets look at supply on a week to week basis. They do not look at something that happens 2 years down the road. The supply of oil went up under Obama despite his refusal to allow drilling on federal lands.

That's because of the improvement with fracking, which DumBama didn't allow on public land. Most all of our abundance of fuel under his presidency came from private lands in spite of him, not because of him.

The market does not look at supply on a week to week basis, they look at supply on an hour to hour basis. The price of our fuel is dictated by the commodities market. Trust me, I'm not clueless because I traded commodities for a few years. As soon as speculators hear of news one way or another, they react immediately, not wait until the end of the week. If you have one contract of oil either way, every time a barrel of oil changes by one dollar, you make or lose $1,000, so it's nothing to play with. You are not going to lose 5K or 10K because you wanted to wait for a week to do something.

And yes, some people do look ahead of time. Maybe you've heard the terms July oil, or November oil. Big players do buy these contracts well ahead of time. The month tells you when the contract is going to expire. If I remember correctly you can buy contracts a year ahead of time. If you don't get rid of that contract on the expiration date, they will be delivering those barrels of oil to your home.
