Vatican warns parents that Halloween is 'anti-Christian' -
The Vatican is warning parents not to let their kids dress up as ghosts and goblins this weekend for Halloween, calling it a pagan celebration of "terror, fear and death," Britain's Daily Telegraph reports in a dispatch from Rome.
The newspaper's Rome correspondent, Nick Squires, notes that the Roman Catholic Church has become alarmed in recent years as the traditional U.S. celebration spreads to other countries, particularly Britain and Italy.
The Vatican issued its warning through its official newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, in an article headlined "Halloween's Dangerous Messages."
It quotes a liturgical expert, Joan Maria Canals as saying, "Halloween has an undercurrent of occultism and is absolutely anti-Christian."
Interesting.........the Bent Dick/Rat Singer of the Catholic church pokes his beady little head up yet again to play whack a pope.........
First, let's talk about dressing up as the dead. Now, isn't there somewhere in the Bible (I think somewhere in the book of Revelations, as well as other places), where it talks about the dead being resurrected? Now, if your kids are dressing up as the dead, aren't they in a small way celebrating the resurrection?
Then, let's talk about 31 October (which incidentally is 13 backwards). Yeshua (Jesus) had 12 disciples, plus when you add Him, it makes 13. In the Bible, it also talks about the shepherds tending their sheep. Now, if it was in the middle of winter, don't you think that the sheep would be in the barn? Oh yeah......it's also been shown via archaeological records as well as historical records, that the actual time of birth of Yeshua was closer to 31 October than 25 December. When Rome sacked Jerusalem, they stole their religion. In order for them to sell it to the pagans of Rome at the time, they adjusted the date of His birth to coincide with the Winter Solstice (which is supposedly a time of renewal), rather than the actual date.
Incidentally, they did the same thing with Easter, which is timed (by the Catholics) to coincide with the Spring solstice, which represents fertility and re-birth.
Oh yeah...........as far as the origins of trick or treating? In the middle ages, on All Hallow's Eve (Halloween) they would bake what they called "soul cakes" for the dead. Now, some of the poor knew that the dead wouldn't be there to eat them, so they would go up to a house, knock and ask for a soul cake, and in return for the cake, they would offer to pray for the dead relatives of the house.
It was kind of an interesting way of sharing with the poor.
Sting made a song about it incidentally...........
