Uvalde Teacher Propped Open Door Despite School Being On Lockdown, Allowed Shooter Entrance

If you aren't pissed off enough already by this insane tragedy, this will make your blood boil.
The school was on lockdown because of shots fired in the area. A teacher actually opened a locked exit door & left it propped open after they panicked & ran back inside.
The psycho perp walked right in an unlocked door due to an idiot teacher making it as easy as possible.
Apparently, they had a locked down & at least semi-secure building up to this point. It might have stopped the perp from entering & allowed police to stop this outside the building.
WTF?! This is just one reason why arming ALL teachers is a bad idea. This one couldn't properly handle a door in a crises.

Based on the timeline of COL. STEVEN MCGRAW, DIRECTOR OF TEXAS DPS, today:

11:28: Ramos crashes into the ditch. The teacher runs to room 132 to retrieve a phone. The same teacher walks back to the exit door and the door remains propped open.

(No time given): Ramos opens the truck and two men from the funeral home, who were checking on him, take off running when they see a gun. They’re shot at but no one is hit.

11:30: The teacher runs back inside, panicked, and apparently calls 911. Door remains propped open. The use of the word “apparently” is peculiar. At this point in the investigation, with this detailed of a timeline, you would think that teacher has been identified, confirmed and a statement taken, that they did in fact call 911.

Locked school doors. Great idea ! More freedumb

I hate to think action was delayed because the students were brown?

It's Long Past Time We Recognized All the Latinos Killed at the Hands of Police

But....https://time.com/5869568/latinos-police-violence/

In January 1918, as the people of Porvenir, Texas, slept, a group of Texas Rangers, U.S. Army cavalry soldiers and Anglo ranchers invaded the town. They abducted 15 Mexican men and boys, took them to a nearby hill overlooking a river and shot them from 3 ft. away, killing all of them. The rest of the villagers sought refuge in Mexico. Days later, the executioners burned what was left of the town. They claimed, without proof, that their victims had been connected to a recent raid at the nearby Brite Ranch

The rotten law-enforcement system we have today is the rapacious fruit of institutions like the Texas Rangers that were sowed specifically to persecute Black and brown bodies. From the early days of this country, law-enforcement officers have conducted themselves with little consequence for their actions because the government has never placed much value on the lives of people of color. While the origins of police in America vary, we know in the South they had their roots in slave patrols targeting African Americans. The Texas Rangers, created in the 1820s, are often seen as American heroes, almost mythical in stature. But they were a racist, repressive and violent force that rained terror on Mexicans and Native people as they cleared the way for westward expansion.

Please stop with the “brown” stuff. These children were Caucasian. I could just as well say that I hope police action wasn’t delayed because these kids weren’t black!

There was never any such term into a few years ago. People were either black, white, or Asian. Stop turning everything into a racial issue.

The police reported that the door was left propped open, I saw it mentioned at a press briefing myself so that's not even in question. Looking at the timeline it also suggests the article is factual.

Someone needs to answer for that.

BTW....Some have suggested that "he would have shot the lock off anyway".....I call BS, more likely than not he would have moved on looking for a path of least resistance.

But OK lets give the "movie watchers" their head.....Even if he was OUTSIDE trying to shoot the lock or hinges police units were already responding so any extra time he spent OUTSIDE the building INCREASED the chances of a OUTSIDE engagement.

Looking at the reported timeline I really like those odds but no, he just waltzed right in due to what amounts to criminal negligence.
Shooting a locked door would make it nearly impossible to open.

One teacher went to lock the door, but Miah says the shooter was already right there — and shot out the window in the door.
She described it all happening so fast — her teacher backed into the classroom and the gunman followed. She told CNN he made eye contact with one of the teachers, said, "Goodnight," and then shot her.
He opened fire, shooting the other teacher and many of Miah's friends. She said bullets flew by her, and fragments hit her shoulders and head. The girl was later treated at the hospital and released with fragment wounds; she described to CNN that clumps of her hair were falling out now.
Miah said after shooting students in her class, the gunman went through a door into an adjoining classroom. She heard screams, and the sound of shots in that classroom. After the shots stopped, though, she says the shooter started playing loud music -- sad music, she said.

Appears they were not in total lock down. If a teacher was just locking the door when the gunman was already inside........He shot the glass out and walked in and said Good Night and blew the teacher away.

With the window blown out .........it would have only delayed the gunman for a few moments. He would have reached through the broken glass and unlocked it.

Several threads trying to blame an open door and not the shooter..............Trying to demonize a teacher over it........no way they knew it would cause this........Wouldn't have stopped the shooter either. Just slowed him down a few moments.

Worst thing here is that the police waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes to breech..............INSANE.

Oh yes. It's all that teacher's fault for leaving the door ajar.
It's NOT the shooter's fault for coming there with an AR-15 intent on killing innocent children.
It's NOT our politicians fault for allowing the NRA basically to write our gun laws (in return for generous donations, of course).

Yes. It's that teacher's fault. Let's place the blame on her.

It is a community of mostly Beaners that voted heavily Democrat.

It was a dumbass Democrat voting teacher. Just like the shooter was a hateful Beaner.

You think all the grieving parents and dead children are Democrats? Most of the Dead children were also "beaners". God, your karma is bad news.

Maybe, but they were local police from a border town of about 15K. Even the spokesman making excuses for them was clearly of "latinx" descent as well. He already made excuses for their cowardice so covering up blatant racism wouldn't be a stretch.
If these officers would sacrifice children's lives because they are the wrong color, the locals share responsibility by putting such racists into the police force.

The kids unfortunately had to pay the price for having a deranged Beaner shooter in their community. In addition to an ineffective police department mostly made up of Beaners and a stupid Beaner teacher that left the damn door open.
