Sen. Mike Lee withdrew a controversial provision Saturday that would have mandated the sale of up to 1.2 million acres of federal public lands, citing concerns about foreign purchasers and facing fierce opposition from fellow Republicans.

The Utah Republican announced the decision in a social media post, ending a weeks-long battle over the measure that had sparked widespread public opposition across political and cultural lines.

The specific verbiage said the amount sold was to be determined by the Interior Secretary.

It didn’t say .05% or whatever Lee was quoting. It was just left up to the .gov to sell of whatever they wanted to sell to their cronies.

Mike Lee must’ve had a ton of money coming with that deal, because everyone hates his guts now. Talk about a losing issue.

Republicans vote against stupid stuff only when it affects them. They are stupid selfish assholes in the western states who dont realize that all Americans should be as protected as the land the love out there. This is a good outcome but just highlights the utter deficit in ethics and compassion the make up of the GOP has.

They really dragged the **** out of him for no reason about that.

Because he tried to sneak his special interest pork into a big bloated bill and hoped no one would notice.
You guys snuck in the inflation pork. Pure obese pig. The congress could make headway on all of the spending. They will not work together. They have a chance now. The temptation to smear and destroy the other side like the Progs are doing with their Architects of Fear Saul Alinsky agendas will reduce any benefits we could see. If a Progressive talks sharing for all and lives like the sharing starts after they get their cut, then it is a warning for dark times ahead.

I will never forget what Tulsi Gabbard shared about her first day in Congress.

Nancy Pelosi told all incoming Dems to NEVER give Republicans a win, EVEN IF IT IS GOOD FOR THEIR CONSTITUENTS.

To the Dems, Congress is about power and money and has nothing to do with helping their constituents live a better life.

**** every last Dem in the ass….twice.

You’d never be able to afford it, so not sure why you want it.
Where is the land acknowledgment at the beginning of your post? Indigenous peoples are the original stewards of the land from where you are posting. You ******* Nazi.

What are the price points of these imaginary condos? I can calculate how many dicks I will have to suck.

Utahs legislators are all heavily tied to real estate and development. They wanted the lands for themselves and did everything they could to get the lands.

Mike Lee is Utah. The Utah lands they wanted and have been trying to acquire are not remote and are in prime locations for development in the Wasatch front and throughout the state.

Even the “several thousand” BLM acres in Utah were extremely valuable to development of 10,000 sqft cabins, McMansions, and resorts.

So, the CLDS (also big into land development) sent their lackey butt-boy Lee out to do their dirty work......Just like Brigham Young sent Lee's ancestor out to massacre settlers just passing through "LDS land". They were so cowardly they dressed as Indians. At least that Lee was finally hung.

The federal government owns too much land.
The government mismanages too much of the land they own.
Sell some, turn the rest over to the states.

Nope, not today we won't.

Interesting.

The Wasatch Front is already getting terribly crowded...On the flip side, not having more room for people will drive up the costs for existing real estate.

A lot of ins, a lot of outs, a lot of what-have-yous.

I liked how they claimed only a "small portion" would be sold off for "housing for .gov employees".

Mike Lee's and developer's version of "police and fire won't be impacted".

Mike also has a tidy wad of Tech Bro loot in his back pocket...So I'm guessing a fair chunk of that land would be heading their way as well.

Weve got more than enough development. Keep the corporate hands off of it.
