USPS wants to hike stamp prices for 2nd time in 6 months

The US mail isn't nearly as important as it was in years past. People pay their bills online, how many times do you need to write a check?

The only time I pull out my checkbook is if I am in line at the grocery store and the place is busy.

Other than that its a credit care or cash.

Mailing a check is just something not done so often today.

Maybe the USPS needs to reduce their delivery service to twice a week? And get back to having Staples sell postage .
if you worked for them and actually delivered mail....you would never suggest 2 days a week......and lots of places sell postage....

Much as I dislike him get Mr Amazon to deliver the mail. Find out real quick how much you are getting ripped off

I don't know about that, it would seem easier to visit homes two days a week rather than 6. The average person would just get more mail, and the routes would be shorter.

A 33% jump during the Biden years. Way to go Joe. Raise the prices on the junk mail, maybe it will help cut down on the crap I get almost daily. This will effect the older generation on a fixed income the most
But if you make less than $400K, your taxes won't go up! BULLSHIT! I guess you should have bought a few hundred "Forever" stamps a few years ago.

lol....like i said if you actually worked there you would never suggest that...you have no idea.....and the people would get the same amount of mail and how would the routes be shorter?....

Only a business moron would have kept this dead end losing business afloat since about 2000. It was clearly a nowhere enterprise without a complete re-tooling. Just for instance, why aren’t they delivering Amazon or other? They already go there!! Madness sets in with the junk mail too. Why should they deliver to a remote cabin? Its crazy! Come pick it up when you get your vodka and costco run.

they do deliver amazon and the others...

I actively avoid the USPS for everything. Had an employee "misplacing" everyone's packages for two weeks and they didn't care.

The funny part is, if it wasn't for the junk mail delivered to us every day, the post office would already be out of business. The truth is, the USPS is nothing but pure socialism where we add billions and billions onto our debt to pay the employees of the USPS to deliver mail we don't want in the first place.

I...agree actually.

Its an ok agency for mailing letters I guess. But as far as parcel delivery, I can't see it and neither can most shippers. When I was looking to send my Cologuard stool sample last year to Exact Sciences, very good service from Fedex. I didn't want my crap to get lost in the mail.

The post office is delivering less than half the money making 1st class mail that it did 20 years ago.
Reasons why are obvious, as people everywhere have switched to autopay and paperless billing.
This is truly an unsurmountable problem for the USPS.
Also down is marketing mail.
And now you have Amazon developing "Amazon Hubs" spread out across even small towns now, with private contractors delivering packages.

They really have no choice. State governments have long-long resisted USPS attempts to modernize and close small POs. Until they are allowed to do so, they will continue losing $$$$money.

That may be the issue. Who mails letters? The only letters I get are bills from places that refuse to go online and well...screw those guys.
