im curious how diverse the members population here is, how many white, black, asian etc. there are
please vote, im using the official american race census, comments are appreciated etc.
Are there no Latinos on the list?
Are these combined with Native Americans?
The bone marrow registry distinguishes
* Caucasian
* Asian
* Native American
* Latino/Hispanic
* Black/African
when trying to match donors by race ethnicity / nationality
A friend of mine calls it
White = People of the North
Yellow = People of the East
Red = People of the West
Black = People of the South
My birth certificate says both my parents are born in Vietnam
but RACE or COLOR = "White"
A sibling born in the same city as me but 4 years later has
Color = "YELLOW" on the birth certificate from the same city/county
In Egypt if you were born above a certain latitude
you are designated white, and below that line is black,
so it is geographically based.
Hispanic is the label made up for govt classification
But most people I know use Latino or get very specific
like Tejano, Chicano, etc. I prefer Latino and distinguish
this from Native American.
