About an hours drive away, I rent a lockup with one of my sons. Over a couple of years, with my work and his work, quite a bit of shite has built up. So this Saturday morning, gonna meet my lad there at 8am, my girlfriend was gonna come with me and help.

I went to bed at 1215am and got up at 330am. Set off at 650am, no sound off the girlfriend. Got to the lockup early, text me son to say I was early. So the plan was to start putting all the scrap wood into the 10'x5' trailer, dismantling some furniture etc.. My son rings at 930am to say he'd slept it. By the time he arrived, just took 15 mins to finish off.

Is it just mine, or do others have useless family members too? And this is not a one off occasion. I get just over 3 hours sleep and they claim of having a craps night sleep bla bla.

It sounds like he was not too interested in helping. You sometimes have to give people time to grow up and understand how important it is to be on time, until I joined the military, I did not understand the concept myself.

Some people learn faster than others, and some people are forced to learn faster than others, and some people never learn.

Pretty normal I'd say. What was the appointed time for the meet-up?

Older people tend to rise early when there is a task at hand.....Youngins' could care less.

I remember when I was in my 20s we would have a road clearing day at the hunt club.....I would arrive on time and all the oldsters would already be there with chainsaws running and cutting away.

The old man would say "where you been boy?", I'd look at my watch and it would be earlier than the appointed time.

The gf is 56 and my son 24. Both are never on time with anything. I don't even have an alarm clock and I'm always there first.

He suggested 7am, I suggested to meet 8am, give him a bit more time. Gf twinned because I didn't wake her. So I'll never win.

I had the doors to the lock up opened, the van connected to the trailer, the trailer emptied of stuff, then dismantled some furniture and threw most of the wood offcuts into the trailer. It's 10'x5' with mesh sides. Everything in, it's two thirds full. Taking it to a bonfire tomorrow to get rid of it, it was piling up.

In my 20's I couldn't get out of bed, now I don't even bother with an alarm. On the rare occasion if I set the alarm on the phone, it just means I wake up every 45 minutes to check it.

You need a wood stove! That's how I get shed of all the wayward wood gun stocks I accumulate.

A BTU is a BTU. ;)

The boy is at an age where he needs to learn now, before its too late, the habit of being on time. I heard in the military that if you're on time, you're late. You're either early, or you're late. Maybe he needs to do an enlistment, I don't recommend joining after the age of 24, that enlistment sweet spot is 18-24, before bad ideas become habits.

Much of the wood is ply, laminate, MDF, and stained. Probably not wood burner material. If I had the time, I would have made kindling off the pine offcuts.

Maybe you should look for an illegal alien to do the job instead of relying on unpaid family members who apparently have little interest in helping you out with the hoard you created.
