Geeze, why couldnt someone have funded them to build an automobile factory? Textiles? Bicycles? anything the people could build and sell on the world market? It seems like it was a pretty stupid thing for USAID to keep sending the money out.

My theory is that they knew that this would attract DOGE' attention, and put them first in line for cutbacks. But . . . they knew that was going to happen anyway. The senior careerists at USAID know better than anyone what kind of crap they used to spend the taxpayers' money on. USAID is a hanging curve ball for an organization dedicated to finding wasteful spending that doesn't benefit average Americans, so if they had followed the EO, as required by law, they would have been on the chopping block anyway.

I'd like to know exactly how they prioritized pushing out funds before DOGE dropped the net over them. I guess we'll never know their thought process, if any, but I wonder if there's a list of that last minute spending.
