...if we can fight Al Qaeda there and in Afghanistan and Pakistan? If the Iraq war compromised the pursuit of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, will Afghanistan now compromise a war in Yemen, since it looks like the bad boys are now there?

This whole Yemen deal was to divert America's attention from the healthcare bill. Nothing to see here.
 
There appears to be a fair amount of cooperation from the Yemen government- such as it is.

The Saleh government has a hands off approach to AQAP. When they say they are bombing AQAP they are actually bombing rebel factions that want to secede from the South.

This is written in the Congressional record by Carl Levin about the hands off approach towards AQAP.
