Putin came so close to launching a nuke in 2022 that UK ‘prepared for fallout’

I know what I know. Telling me I don't know anything isn't an argument.

This isn't the Russia of WWII, citizens aren't nearly as invested in this war as they were when the Germans were attackign Stalingrad. Maybe it's time for you to understand the difference.
Actully, Russians do see NATO's expansion exactly as just another European "Drung nach Osten". They see German tanks on the Russian soil and they see Banderovci mass-murdering civilians. The motto "We can repeat" is even more popular in Russia than "From my cold hands" in America.

Russia has been over estimating their military for decades going back to the Afghanistan war of the 1970s.

The only equalizer Russia has is nukes. Let's hope the Russians love their children too.

There was no war in Afghanistan, either.

Yes, Russians do love their children, and this is exactly why they will use nukes to defend them.

Russia didn't invade Afghanistan? Russia was there for 10 years so perhaps you are not as informed as you project yourself to be.

If I am to respect your opinion at least be honest. We all have our biases, but facts are facts. Now Afghanistan will never be an easy military excursion for anyone, even powerful militaries, but the old Soviets were there for a decade.

The Soviet–Afghan War was a protracted armed conflict fought in the Soviet Union-controlled Democratic Republic of Afghanistan (DRA) from 1979 to 1989.

It's the West that is threatening Russia, not the other way around
Yeah that's some threat. Russia is free to attack Ukraine without a military response from NATO.. but, yeah.. NATO is the threat.

.. against what? They'd have to start something for their children to be in danger.

What do you call this?:

It's the West that is threatening Russia, not the other way around. As NATO keeps pushing closer and closer towards Russia you say nothng. But if Putin replies, "Good luck with that" you start crying and call it a threat.
Yeah that's some threat. Russia is free to attack Ukraine without a military response from NATO.. but, yeah.. NATO is the threat.
I can see that restricting yourself to MSM headlines hasn't afforded you any insight at all.

No. Soviet Union just supported Democratic Republic of Afghanistan by it's request. It wasn't a "war", just an "operation".

"Soviet-Afghan war" is just a figure of speech. Soviet Union have been supporting Democratic Republic of Afghanistan in it's operations against local islamists and western "advisors".

Yeah. And to prevent possibility of such response Russia started this operation. Anyway, Kievan Junta is NATO's proxy.

They are. A lot of Russian children were killed by NATO-backed Banderlogs in Donetsk. Much more were killed by NATO forces in Iraq, Libya, Serbia, Syria in recent years. And millions of them have been murdered by Western barbarians (Germans, Swedens, Frenches, Poles, Lithuanians and many others) during previous centuries. And leopard can't change its spots.

What do you call this?:
Just a figure of speech. In fact, vice versa, Soviet Union supported Democratic Republic of Afghanistan in its conflict against islamists and their western supporters.
