The waiting times for our healthcare is shorter than most, if not all
of those western European countries.

Why aren't we being told about the Russian COVID-19 vaccine?
It's been thoroughly tested, it's scientifically sound.
The Russians have started distributing it to their people and they've published all info about it online and presented it to the WHO.
I can only guess that the AMA and American Pharma companies can't profit from vaccines that's patent is held by Russian companies.

I will say this. The Affordable Care Act did not save a single life during the pandemic. It only kept some people from being as deeply mired in medical debt as they might have been. Much the same could be said for commercial insurance policies. In Tennessee, if requiring emergency medical care, a hospital cannot turn you away.

It’s not even close to being the best, for millions of Americans. If you’re very wealthy or very lucky, you can get top notch HC here. When talking about healthcare in this country, they are not talking about lack of facilities or lack of world class doctors and specialists or drug and research professionals. They are not talking about me and my family and probably and probably not you and yours. I had a Cadillac Blue Cross plan through the corporation I worked for when our first child. Paid total bill ($12.00) 3 days after leaving hospital, when I checked on the bill. Raised 3 kid, always covered under 2 family plans and sometimes through military. Still under 2 family plans when something was eating through one of the twins right lung and teams of specialist appeared locally and from 150 miles away review daily cat scans and managing treatment. I never miss the money. Same coverage when daughter broke her neck clean, both sides of 3rd cervical vertebrae. Again world class neurologist and perfect outcome. Added a huge cancer policy as cancer ran in wife's family. Sure enough, breast cancer with lymph node involvement. She had a great outcome is cancer free and we were never in debt. When I wanted to take up skiing at age 60, I wanted a cardiac checkup. My primary arranged for a world class cardiologist, who was not only skilled, but was also a lecturer, who had designed and implanted his designed valves in patients from across the country that came to our small city just to see him. Perfect and easily afforded. Three years later when I ripped out ACL, part of MCL and a chunk of meniscus, skying at Copper Mountain, doctors and facilities instantly available in Colorado / Tennessee covered by two plans commercial and military (thanks for your tax dollars) covering 2 surgeries, drugs, rehab, lots of pain, but the only sweat was from the rehab not the bank account. Many people are not like us, probably not like you. We get great preventative care and access to the best medical care available because we can and choose to afford it. We are in far better health than the average our age and still covered under 2 plans plus the cancer policy. Many, maybe most do not have the option. For many of them it is emergency treatment only mostly at the emergency room. For them, the world class healthcare is not commonly available or affordable. We will be fine, probably even if I get Covid, again. Many do not have the advantages and only entitled to emergency care. Talk about a two class society, when it comes to healthcare, welcome to America, about the only highly developed country on earth where only the well off are entitle to good medical support.
