You only get retirement after 20 years. If you serve 15 years and are involuntarily separated, you receive one month of service credit for every year served.

If any Service Member undergoes major surgery without pre-authorization, they are liable for a discharge under Less Than Honorable conditions. These people are lucky they're not being thrown in prison.

When I was in, if you even wanted to be circumcised you had to get permision, and the Army had to do it. Any other surgery outside of what was done by the Army, Navy, Air Force, whatever has to be pre-approved. Even cosmetic surgery. EVEN TATTOOES (They've lightened up on that a little bit). A Tatoo not done correctly or in the wrong place will get your ass in trouoble. Like if you, personally, wanted to get surgery so you wouldn't be quite so incredibly ugly. That has to be approved. Which, for you, would be immediately approved, I'm sure. We can't do anything for your stupidity. Sorry

Retirement is only for those with 20 years or more service.


If you can’t fulfill your obligations then you are cut from the military at any time. You have no entitlement to stay in until 20 years if you can’t meet the requirements.
