I wholeheartedly agree with Newt on that. We SHOULD have intercepted that rocket. By not doing so, we gave North Korea a free pass to do whatever they want.
Unfuckingbelievable. We've done the whole diplomacy thing with North Korea. Now it's time for action.
as we did with Iraq
yet you pissed and moaned about that one
Iraq had no air force, no SAMs. And the price to occupy it has been high in both men and material. And in the end, we gained nothing and lost much.
Keep North Korea contained, and eventually change will come. They know they cannot launch a war without the complete destruction of their sorry state. But they also know that they can take out South Korea and much of Japan, and wreak havoc with an invading force. The containment of the Soviet Union worked, and the containment of North Korea will also work.
Confinement. Stranglehold, for as long as it takes.
It is a strategy that has, and will avert massive loss of life, and massive depletion of resources.
War against a well defended, desperate and demented foe who is bunkered in and has a huge arsenal and likelyl some WMDs.
Not a good idea.
Find a less costly, less messy solution that will REALLY accomplish the desired ends.
I know, it's not what the comic book heroes do, but we live in this real world.
Patience and persistent persevering confinement are the best option.
Close them off, stay watchful and prepared, pressure them as needed, send in a little food and medical assisatnace to let them see we aren't monsters, Wait them out and when Kim dies, (maybe we could help in that), it will be an improvement.
And we will have defused the situation without causing a horrible war.
Every syllable of the beliicose talk comes from armchair warriors.
We Don't hear any military strategists or any active military who are aware of the operational realities chatting up or banging their shields to invade or air striking North Korea.
