Do law-enforcement officers carry weapons because they live in "crippling fear"? Your statement is utter bullshit. They carry to protect themselves. They are under no constitutional duty to protect anyone else, that has already been settled by the Supreme Court.

There are hundreds of thousands of us. Most likely you've had an armed citizen standing behind you at the checkout counter. Or sat next to you at a restaurant. Or was in the line ahead of you at the hardware store.

And in every one of those instances, not once did their weapon jump out of its holster by itself and shoot you in the ass. But do something extremely stupid and see how quickly you assume room temperature.
