As many here know, I teach at as inner city an inner city school as you’ll find anywhere in as blue a blue state as we’ve got.
There is a lot of talk about woke-this and woke-that in education, but here’s the deal for me today:
I’ve been given some time to prepare a presentation today, so it’s a pretty quiet day. As a result, I can hear much of what is going on in the school around my classroom. First thing this morning I heard a few hundred students reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. A little later I heard a room full of native Spanish speakers singing God Bless the USA, and after that Country Roads, Take Me Home.
Didn’t strike me as very “woke.”
