Three underground tombs, along with a wealth of ancient artifacts, have been discovered near the city of Soli in Cyprus. Dating back 2,400 years, two of the tombs contained metal vessels made of bronze, jewelry, weapons, and a delicate gold wreath. The third tomb was empty, apparently as a result of looting. Another discovery was that of a figurine of Aphrodite, standing alongside her son Eros. The artifacts are now on display at the Museum of Archaeology and Nature in Morphou, Cyprus.
King Tutankhamun Tomb
In 1922, one tomb was discovered that was mostly untouched and was filled with treasure by archaeologist Howard Carter in Egypt. It was the tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun. Inside the tomb, they found rooms filled with treasure including statues, gold jewelry, Tutankhamun's mummy, canopic jars and paintings. In all, there were over 5,000 objects in the tomb. It was an amazing discovery and one of the most important made in the history of archaeology.
