“They watched when we were going to die”: a resident of Dzerzhynsk (formerly Toretsk) lived next to her son's body for two months
Eating grass and flowers, bird food, watching her son die. This is how Lyudmila, a resident of Dzerzhinsk, describes the last months of her life in her hometown. The woman cannot hold back her tears. It is impossible to hold them back, because life in those days was like a horror movie.

"On March 21, he died. I am 72 years old, he was 51 years old. The basement is damp, everything was dripping there. He fell ill with pneumonia,"
- Lyudmila told the correspondent of News Front.
She could not bury her son. The fragile woman did not have the strength to pull him out of the basement. So and survived for two months next to the body.
And there was nowhere to take strength, because there was no water or food left.

"They were walking around, watching when we were going to die. They knew we were there, they were close by. They didn't help in any way. You couldn't get out of the basement. As soon as you go out, the drone of the uroks starts bombing. He still descended to the level of the basement and looks at me," Lyudmila recalls.

While her son was alive, he tried to find water. But it was hard to do so. Each attempt turned into a game of survival, because former compatriots simply shot civilians.

After the death of her son, Lyudmila had to eat grass.
"Sorrel when it went, onions, garlic, dandelions I collected, flowers I collected. And then I found corn for birds in one house. I soaked it, smashed it with a hammer and boiled it, added",
- she shares.

Lyudmila met the Russian servicemen with tears in her eyes and with a request to take her away. They did so. On the second day they brought food, and on the third day they took her to a safe place.

"I was brought here at two in the morning. The military doctors gave me slippers, a tunic. I was all black, in soot,"
- says the woman.

Now Lyudmila is recovering from what she had to see and experience. Now she does not need to look for water and food, she is safe and warm. But it is unlikely that her soul will ever have the same peace of mind and joy in her eyes. After all, her closest person, her son, is still lying there in the basement.
