The following "YouTube" video is a very important history lesson. I will personally attest that the facts he presents from the 1980s to the current day 2020s are reasonably accurate: I was alive, aware, and I watched the news unfold firsthand. I cannot attest to the history he presents from the early 1900s; however, it does generally match my understanding of world events during that timeframe based on my studies.



I urge you to watch this video for the following reasons:

1. Russian propaganda has become ubiquitous on social media, including here on usmessageboard, and many people have fallen for it.
2. We should be better people: just because one party (Democrats) seem to have adopted support for Ukraine doesn't mean we have to immediately reject their position. In fact, the Democratic leadership has been weak in its response to Russia's naked aggression. We don't have to agree on other issues. The war would have never happened if we had a legitimate leader in office.
3. Trump has done a great job attempting to get Putin to come to the table (IMHO). If you understand the history in the video link above, you can probably see what will happen. Trump promised no boots on the ground if Putin would agree to peace. IFF (=> If and only If). We should be prepared for the alternative to that. As an example, because of Putin's lackluster efforts to come to the peace table, the Pentagon has recently released constraints on Ukraine targeting military assets anywhere in Russia...to devastating effect for the Russian military.

The "ukrainian fascists" did not invade Russia. No matter what you say about Ukraine's internal politics or corruption, they were well within their sovereign rights to do whatever they wanted within their own borders. In fact, they were considered the world's breadbasket, supplying basic food staples to some of the most impoverished regions of the world.

On the other hand, Putin's Russia has demonstrated over and over and over during the past 30 years that it has no moral constraint about using death and destruction against its neighbors.
