My issues:
1) Should be a state issue (we already have similar).
2) It could easily be interpreted as requiring ALL existing registrants to re-register. Thats an impossibility before the next election, much less the primaries.

The idea of not requiring a valid photo ID to cast a vote is absolutely ******* ludicrous. Whatever dark fantasies you wish to spin from that is your business but there is simply no excuse for not having to show a government issued photo ID to exercise the most sacred rite in America.

Rahcheer in Tejas, we're required to show ID to vote. I did photocopy mine to include in my mail in ballot. That's not something that I do very often, so I remembered it.

Our current "voter registration" system needs to be shit canned and replaced.

I have no problem requiring ID to vote so long as the government isn't using it to disenfranchise citizens. IMHO - the current "voter registration" system should be shit canned since the government ALREADY knows who the citizens are. Voter ID isn't about proving citizenship, it's about establishing identity. Two different things.

Therefore:

• The Voter ID itself must be free of charge.
• Supporting documents to obtain said ID must be free of charge.
• The issuing authority for such ID MUST maintain an ombudsman office to assist those obtaining said ID if there are issues and the office empowered to issue certification for citizenship that can then be used to obtain the ID.
• Documenting the Voter ID number on the ballot security envelope is sufficient for mail-in ballots.
