Well...time for the Armageddon types to start issuing Alerts, eh?

The U.S. conducted its second set of strikes within a month on Iran-linked facilities in retaliation for continuing to attack U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement that the strikes were conducted at the direction of President Biden. The strikes targeted a weapons storage facility in eastern Syria used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups. Two U.S. F-15s conducted the strikes.
"The United States is fully prepared to take further necessary measures to protect our people and our facilities," Austin said. "We urge against any escalation."

The U.S. conducted its first set of strikes on Oct. 26 and targeted a weapons storage area and an ammunition storage area linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and associated militias.
There have been 41 attacks against U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria since Oct. 17, including on Wednesday, when a multi-rocket attack targeted U.S. forces at al-Shaddadi, in Syria.

About half of the attacks occurred after Oct. 26, following the strikes the U.S. conducted against facilities linked to Iran's IRGC and Iranian-backed militias.
There have been no injuries in the attacks since the first set of U.S. retaliatory strikes, but 46 service members sustained injuries in attacks between Oct. 17 and Oct. 21.
Of the 46, 25 service members were diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries, and two of the diagnoses were serious enough to require follow-on care in Germany. The 21 other injuries have been described by the Pentagon as "minor injuries."

There are about 900 U.S. service members in Syria and 2,500 in Iraq as part of the coalition to defeat ISIS.

It might happen. Oil was able to kill the whaling industry overnight. And religion is only as powerful as the amount of weapons and soldiers it can pay for. If oil revenue stops existing so does the power of many theocracies.
Jihadist OPEC Was Created by the Western Oil Companies

Our petrocrats wanted to piggyback off the Moslems' price-gouging and blame foreigners for it. That has not only fatally weakened Western economies; it has bought all the weapons the jihadis use in their fanatical religious drive for world domination.

They pelt us with some puny rockets and drones.

We destroy their base.

Iran got the message.

I could not deny the possibly of that being perfectly true

Of course it is true, when it suits the "petrocrats" to do so.

And when it doesn't, they want to leverage the same foreigners. In ether case, they run to the US Gubmint for assistance.

Our energy industry is not nationalized. These private oil companies have no loyalty to US consumers. They are just trained, curated robots working off an algorithm: maximizing profit.

This is a serious question, it makes me wonder what trade was offered to get so many western oil companies to leave Russia. There had to have been something. We probably won't recognize it for years.

They need the US government. It subsidizes them when times are rough, it leverages their competitors, it goes to war for the global oil market to ensure energy security at home.

I am more inclined to think the US government said "We are asking nicely, for now."

Breaking news: We just had a Reaper Drone shot down in the middle east conflicts along with ground troops attacked in Syria. I will try and find link .https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/iran-backed-yemeni-rebels-shoot-down-us-drone/ar-AA1jCBrY?ocid=msedgntp&pc=HCTS&cvid=afebfaff60b645499c232d4196503ec4&ei=7

We have absolutely no business being there.
Actually, even if Israel wasn't an ally we still have a major self-interest in helping them against Iran. Iran has established a ring of well-armed, well-trained proxy forces committed to destroying the Jewish state. Our modest little outpost in Syria serves the role of blocking a full scale land route for weapons replenishment from Iran to Syria and Lebanon.
While that outcome would please quite a few here, they aren't dealing with the reality of how that would look for the world.
If there is a single nation on the planet that would not hesitate to set the world on fire if they saw themselves being subjected to 10/7 all over their country, that nation is Israel. This world is far beyond the time of this nation being able to withdraw and watch events unfold without those events eventually coming home to kill us here.

Our domestic agencies are on higher alert tonight as well.
We've had several million military age men come into our country over the past few years. If Iran wanted to do so they could have infiltrated enough teams of trained men to recreate what Hamas did on October 7th, in every state in the US. It could all be done on the same day. The casualties would FAR exceed 9-11.
The first instinct is to believe we'd hit a nation so hard that none of them would try that but perception of weakness has caused many wars through miscalculation.

The West will make the Iranians look like
