But we weren't in Iran when they were attacking us in the links provided in the OP.

The Brits were here, in fact we fought to have our independence from them.

Iran wasn't fighting for their independence from us, in fact we weren't even in their country.

So the comparison, falls flat

I don't disagree with you that it is, hence why the OP is highlighting how Iran's behavior was both of those things, and we are justified in defending ourselves from them

Aren't we attacking them in their homeland? Isn't it essentially on the other side of the globe? How and where did they attack us?
