I understand how you feel about a government imposing socialism onto the people but has it ever occurred to you that some people like socialism. I think a better solution that would allow everyone to live under the society they want is sucession from the union. Its a hypothetical proposal but can you imagine another that yields the greatest overall happiness of each citizen and maintains every citizen's right to live under the government they want.
Lets now imagine something a little less destructive to the nation such as state nullification of unconstitutional laws that go outside its delegated powers. Every state can then simply nullify whatever law they don't like and states that do like the socialist stuff can not nullify those federal laws. This way everyone is happy.
Gee, then we could be just like Europe, or South America, or Africa, or the Middle East...Socialism here, Communism there, genocide, theocracies, ethnic cleansing, continual wars between the "states" and economic disasters sprinkled like a checkerboard across the land with check points at every "state" line. Just think, each little puny jurisdiction could have its own border patrol, form of government, currency, passport requirements...blah blah blah. And then there's the question of who would control the nuke launchers and the firing solutions.
Stupid idea...really stupid idea.
That's just about as ridiculous as the OP. We are the United States of America and should stay that way.
We do not need any military take over or any splitting up. We need to vote and pay attention to the laws of the United States and the Constitution supported by them.
Likewise, we do not need a new civilian national police with powers equal to that of our military. I oppose the creation of a White House controlled police force any larger than the Capital Police that we now maintain.
All this discussion comes from the decision to hold civilian trials for alleged terrorists. My concerns for civilian trials are many, but trials must occur...and they might as well be done publicly. The trial lawyers will get richer, the taxpayers will get screwed no matter what the verdicts are and if those charged are convicted, they will not be executed and we will pay for keeping them alive 'til they die of other causes.
The media circus atmosphere will generate unending controversial rumors and revelations of facts that will serve no purpose other than promotion of extreme divisiveness between two sides of an argument that will not end.
