Weird right? This is the methodology being employed here and it's destroyed our nation for the last few decades. They will often justify it via people like this you quote.

People of principle are destroyed in nations that operate like the old Soviet system. The Soviets lost some of their best spies because they didn't want to protect an oppressive system (often they were the ones being oppressed directly).

The Bibi government is definitely not popular. Even within Israel and this was even before Oct 7th. I hope he can redeem himself.

As it were, Israel didn't start this war. The young people who were dancing at a festival didn't deserve to die.

We need Israel to be the freedom loving nation in the Middle East we all respect and adore. The democracy among autocrats and that which upholds Judaism and shines its light upon the world.

At the very least, when those of us support Israel and receive the usual rage (often from apolitical Canadians), we can at least know that Israel is standing up for the same principles we believe in. It's like the Christians being fed to the lions in the past, in this case it is ANYONE who openly supports Judaism and especially Israel.
