Let's hope for peace for Israel and Gaza and the return of the hostages, even if no longer with us on this earth, they can receive a dignified and proper burial, their bodies not left alone with their murderers.

Too many have already lost their lives on both sides. IDF soldiers are paying a price when they are just young men who want to live freely (their sacrifices contribute to this freedom), too many innocents murdered.

Let's hope peace succeeds, this war needs to end as soon as possible.

Taken from "Sixties Fan" post in the other thread. Thank you for sharing, it's a nice gesture so I borrowed it here:

I learned a few new details last night and I'm including Lisa558 in the conversation because she seems to be a fair expert on all things Israel. I learned that:
  1. They had something called the Six Day War.
  2. Israel had been trying to settle things and they and the Palestinians fought over something and several Arab countries around them ganged up on Israel instead and told the Palestinians to get out of there, leave the area, that they would easily defeat Israel rather than make any concessions to a 2-state solution, and then once defeated, the Palestinians could move back in.
  3. Instead of accepting a generous offer that would have given the Palestinians 5X the land and many additional things, the Arabs threw it all out, went to war--- and lost.
  4. The Arabs lost 80% of the land that Palestinians would have otherwise had to Israel.
  5. Sometime after that, the Palestinians elected Hamas as their governing body.
So I'll say it again: it is very difficult for me to feel sorry for the Palestinians or fault Israel for fighting back any way they can.

Yes. Don't forget the Yom Kippur war of 1973 lead by Egypt and Syria. They had an early and dominant position but then lost.

From what I understand the war in 1967 began by Israel attacking early after escalations on both sides and thus ensuring it was a short war.

In 1973 though, the Israelis were caught off guard and were in a bad position. Perhaps the closest they had come to losing their country since 1948. The rapid assistance by the United States changed the outcome,

There were some classic tank successes by the Israelis as I recall learning about. In one instance, a couple of tanks held off many more enemy tanks who were visually in darkness by feigning that there were more there than was really the case and it caused a poor decision of retreat.

Both sides did everything they could to arrive at what has transposed. Netanyahu & Co; maintained policies and carried out actions knowing they would provoke Hamas and others to extremes and, thus, give the excuse for what has been done. Hamas et al are similarly cynical about their populations' welfare when it comes to advancing their agenda. Both sides run on violence. This is not a story about the Israeli people nor the so-called Palestinian people. It is a story of power and manipulation.

It not a war asshole. It’s genocide.

Think before posting for once.

Though the name sounds familiar and at the time I probably heard about it all the time in the news, in 1973, I was in high school and was a wild and crazy guy who had more important things on his mind then than some small war on the other side of the world.

89% of Hamas Fighters and the 10/7 Attackers are dead and Gaza is a Ruinous Hellscape . Bravo , well done IDF .

Israel didn't come close to losing Israel, they came close to losing parts of Egypt and Syria which they occupied and didn't plan on leaving.

The American Far Left & Left want to Arm Hamas like we armed the Ukraine .

Keep it simple, and just admit you are a Jew hater. And leave it at that.
