1. The Left is generally in support of Antifa, and/or other methods of suppressing speech. Pretending otherwise is dishonest, even if it lets you pretend to be more reasonable and above it all, and evolved.
2. I'm sure the employee, and the libs chuckling over it, considered it an nice symbolic move, even if it was only 11 minutes.
3. Twitter is a publicly traded stock. The people running it have an ethical and professional responsibility to maximize profits for their share holders, not play partisan politics. Picking a war with half the nation, not a profitable move.
1) So you say...I say different...so what? I'm not a Leftist..even though the alt/right folks never lose an opportunity to paint me as one. Just because someone thinks Trump is an incompetent ass..does not put them on the left. I'm issue driven..and I despise the extremists in both parties..as I've said...time and time again.
2) I'm not a lib..and I chuckled over it..and still am. Trump has the bully pulpit..and can be heard any time he wishes--and as we know..he wishes a lot.
3) You are not half the nation....you are about 36%--if and when Twitter profits drop...then you might have a point. But it is up to the shareholders to make that point. I don't think it will come to that.
As I pointed out in an earlier post..which you dismissed, of course, a lot of Trump supporters wish he would shut the F up..and govern. His Twitter use in particular drew criticism. These are Trump voters..who say they will vote for Trump again. So, somehow I doubt that any great movement against Twitter will develop.
1. The support of speech suppression by the left is not a mater of opinion. Pretending an equivalence that does not exist does not make you intellectually superior.
2. And the left has the Main Stream Media, and Hollywood and Education from top to bottom. Your easy acceptance of censorship does not make you cool or edgy.
3. NOthing in our post addressed my point that the people running it have an ethical and professional responsibility to their shareholders. "Not dropping" is not their job. Neither is poking the president who got approximately HALF the votes.
Thank you for the civil debate..a rare thing here.
1. I disagree. You are stating what you believe to be a matter of fact..and I believe to be nothing but spin. The 'left' is not all one thing..nor is the right. Were I to say that all Rightists are racists..I would be incorrect. The same logic applies. I see no false equivalency--I see tails wagging dogs..and a lot of false narratives.
2. Again, you make some blanket statements that you present as fact..and I don't believe to be facts. That the MSM is left leaning editorially--I can buy... and I sure think that some organizations go overboard....but there are plenty of Right leaning organizations out there as well..Fox..Breitbart..infowars..ZeroHedge..and the entirety of Talk Radio. So, from top to bottom is a bit of an over-exaggeration, IMO. You seem to buy into this 'conspiracy theory' --that the Left controls everything..and the noble Right is just trying to get back to good ole American values. I do not buy it. What censorship? 1 disgruntled employee, remember? BTW..I suspect it would take divine intervention to make me either cool..or edgy.
3.You seem to see a Twitter approval of this act that I'm pretty does not exist. But...Twitter is private company..never mind that they are publicly traded...if the shareholders have issues..and I doubt that they do...it is up to them to deal with it.
IMO..this is NOT a free speech issue--Twitter could close Trump's account tomorrow..and they would be within their rights. Just as this forum could terminate our accounts..without reason given. The same logic applies.
As an aside..in the article I posted..which you chose to ignore...it's pretty clear that if Twitter ended Trump's account..about two thirds of his supporters would breath a quiet sigh of relief.
